Financial News
As we move along and through the end of the month of May we thank you for your faithfulness in giving. Last month we received $15,101 in tithe (to the Conference.) Thank you for that...it goes to pay our pastor and to support our school teachers and mission in Los Angeles.
Your giving of $11,239 towards our church budget covers our rent, school subsidies and the day to day mission and functions of The Place. Our monthly budget is $8,834, so we were able to catch up a little on our budget deficit this year. (We are only $4,700 behind budget.)
Many thanks for your generosity in supporting our Peru Mission Trip...Your help is very much needed- particularly in making it possible to take along our young people this summer. You may give to the Peru mission project by marking your tithe envelope with "Peru Mission."
And, just a reminder that you may give each Sabbath at The Place or online by clicking on the link. Thanks!
New Website for The Place
Yes...it is true. As part of our move into a new church facility, we wanted to be able to communicate with our church family via a new website. Check it out at www.theplacechurch.com (or you can still go to theplacers.org and it opens at our new site.) Jeremy Bachmann is heading out our new website, with help from several others. We are trying to make this site as user-friendly as possible, including being able to listen to the sermons (AND the praise music) on-line and to have our weekly Scoop available on our web-site just in case you forget something. We invite you to take a look around, and if you have ideas, suggestions or the ability to help run our new web site, you may email Jeremy at jeremy@jeremybachmann.com.
New Website
Hollywood Bowl- Fourth of July
We will be heading out to the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday night, July 2nd to view the Fourth of July Spectacular. Tickets are $14 a person. If you are interested in going, please let us know by signing up in the lobby this Sabbath. Children are welcome!
Nominating Committee & New Ministries
There is only one more month left for many of our church officer positions....And- we are looking for YOU!Our mini-nominating committee will be meeting to fill vacant positions and to look for new ministries at The Place. We have handed out interest sheets the last few Sabbaths but still have not received all sheets back. We are very serious about knowing where your passions lie in ministry. This Sabbath we will be handing out more sheets regarding your interests. If you are interested in being a part of ministry at The Place, we would love to know about it! And, please keep in mind, that ministry means ANYTHING that builds up the body of Christ - in our church community or in our local community or world!
We are also interested in starting new ministries. There are three areas of ministry in particular that we would like to see grow: Coffee Ministry, Collegiate Ministry, and a Wednesday night outreach ministry. We are looking for one or two (or more) people who would be interested in coordinating these ministries. If you are interested in leading out in any of these areas, please contact Pastor Simon at simonliversidge@hotmail.com.
Also, this week, you received an email from The Place with both of these surveys...we are trying to make your life easier by giving you the option of filling them out and returning them electronically! Click on the link below to fill out the survey.
The Survey
Youth Calendar
The youth group is gearing up for a busy summer! One of the activities will be a Wednesday night group at The Place. The youth will be meeting on Wednesday nights for bible study followed by a time of fellowship. The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday evening, June 8th.
There will also be various activities throughout the summer for the youth to participate in. The new youth leader will be Robert Nomelli (we are so excited). But- if you are interested in leading out as well, please contact Robert at 805-522-6550.
