The Scoop at the Place -- July 28th, 2005

This Week At The Place

This Sabbath Elder Rob Randall will be preaching at The Place while Pastor Simon and many others are away on the mission trip to Peru.

Elder Rob Randall will be leading out in the adult Sabbath School that meets at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. They are exploring the book of Acts.

Danielle Martinez will be leading out in the Discipleship Training class at 10:30 a.m. The Discipleship class is going over the book, The Life You've Always Wanted, written by John Ortberg. This week the class will be going over chapter 8, which focuses on confession.

Mission Projects
We ask that you all continue to pray for Pastor Simon and the group of 30 that are currently in Peru on a mission trip. We know that they are ALL blessing SO many people with the building of a community center and church. We pray for a safe journey and stay and for a blessed time of working and fellowshipping.

Also, we want to remind all of you that there will be another mission project in August. This time, however, the project will be a local one of barn painting at 15 Hands Rescue Sanctuary. If you like horses or just helping kids, then we would love your help in painting a barn at Ventura Farms in Hidden Valley on Sunday, August 14th. 15-Hands Rescue Sanctuary gives underpriveleged kids an opportunity to ride and interact with horses. They need our help! We'll start painting around 8 am. and should be done by noon (or earlier if more people help!) For info or to reserve a spot, contact Alicia Adams at alicia@puconline.org or 805-573-0848.

Financial Budget for June
During June we recieved tithe of $14,726...this brings our total for the year to date to $74,365. We are being blessed.

The total giving to our local church budget was $6344 in June. Our year to date total is $44,604. We appreciate your support, but we fell a few thousand dollars short as our local budget for each month is 9,011 dollars. Year to date our church budget is $52,749, so we are currently reaching about 85% of our local church budget needs. We need your continued support and faithfulness in giving. Please continue to support your local church, THE PLACE! A reminder that you may return your tithes and offerings at church or on-line by clicking here. We appreciate your faithful support of the ministry of The Place!

Yosemite Trip
Last September, a group of people from a few area churches went to Yosemite and had a blast. In light of the great time had last year by so many, there will be another Yosemite trip this year. The dates are September 16-18th. The rates for cabins are about $140.00 for the weekend (three to four people per cabin depending if you're a male or female. Subsequently, your lodging expense per person comes to roughly $35.00 - $45.00. However, this does not include the entrance fee of $20.00 per car and your own food expenses for the weekend. The lodging facility will be the "Housekeeping Camp," right on the river (beach) and there are showers and bathrooms a few steps away from each cabin. There will also be hiking trips.

If you are interested in going on the Yosemite trip, please contact Marcel Schwantes from the Vallejo church at mschwantes@yahoo.com.
