The Scoop at The Place - October 20, 2005

This Week At The Place
This Sabbath Pastor Simon will be preaching at The Place. He continues his series which focuses on Falling In Love With Jesus. This week is the sixth in his series and is titled "Full Of Content." We also have a new Daily Reading Plan to follow along with the series. Pick up your copy this Sabbath.

You may also click onto the daily reading plan from our website, or you may listen to the sermons on-line (we even podcast!!) Check out all the new stuff at www.theplacechurch.com.

Elder Rob Randall will be leading out in the adult Sabbath School that meets at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. They are exploring the book of Acts.

There are also Sabbath School classes available for all ages. Sabbath school starts at 10:30 a.m. at "The Little Place"...stop by and be blessed!

During the next ten weeks, there will not be a Discipleship Sabbath School class. Instead, anyone interested in Discipleship training is invited to attend the training class in giving personal bible studies held in the chapel behind the youth room. This class began three weeks ago and has been a real blessing for so many people. We encourage you to come and be a part of this class...however, if you are interested, this is the LAST week that you may join. There are also Discipleship training classes available on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

And-a reminder that your tithes and offerings are always a blessing. You may return your tithes and offerings to The Place or on-line by clicking on the link provided.

And...
Faith First Concert at The Place!!!
That's right everyone, we have booked Faith First to give us a concert! They have just released a new CD entitled "This Is The Sound" and we thought it fitting to have them sing us their new songs personally!! Our concert is booked for December 10, Saturday night. We will have a time of fellowship and food in our café before the concert starts and there will be more time to fellowship and visit with the band after the concert!

This will be a free concert to all so make sure and invite your friends! If you want to buy the cd before the concert so you can sing along you can get it at www.faithfirst.net or you can buy the cd at the end of the concert!! If you are interested in donating money towards the cost of this event please contact Heather Richmund at 805-499-0398 or Pastor Simon at 805-498-2300. We know this will be a wonderful time of fellowship and worshipping God and we look forward to seeing all of you there!!!!

Small Groups
Yes, this is another blurb on Small Groups...but have you actually experienced the blessing of being in a small group? We encourage you to try one of or a few of the small groups that we currently have through The Place. Presently, we have nine small groups that meet on a regular basis. If you would like to know who is meeting where, please access our website or if you would like to form your own, please sign up this Sabbath.....we guarantee you'll love it!

Financial News
Yes, another month has passed and we would like to share our current financial condition at The Place. We continue to be blessed, but as you can see, our needs continue to outpace our local giving. In September, we had giving to our church budget of $4,827...but, our montly church budget is $9,285. Year to date, local giving is $61,926...meaning we are getting close to $20,000 behind our budget for the year. Tithe received (which goes directly to the So. Cal. Conference) in Sept. was $11,491...with a total of $103,872 for the year so far. Thank you for your support.
The reason we share the numbers is not to induce guilt...merely to remind you that it takes all of us being faithful in order for The Place to continue to minister effectively to our members and our local community. Thanks for your faithfulness.
