The Scoop- December 1st, 2005

This Week At The Place
This Sabbath Pastor Simon will be preaching at The Place. He is concluding his series on Falling In Love With Jesus. This week is the twelfth in his series and is titled "The Glory Of The Lord." And - before the sermon, the CAES Choir will be singing. We welcome the choir members and family as they bless us.

And, if you can't make it this week, or any week, you may listen to the sermons on-line (we even podcast!!) Check out all the new stuff at www.theplacechurch.com.

Elder Rob Randall will be leading out in the adult Sabbath School that meets at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. They are exploring the book of Acts.

And the Discipleship training class continues meeting this week on Sabbath at 10:00 a.m. and on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

There are also Sabbath School classes available for all ages. Sabbath school starts at 10:30 a.m. at "The Little Place"...stop by and be blessed!

And-a reminder that your tithes and offerings are always a blessing. You may return your tithes and offerings to The Place or on-line by clicking on the link provided.

Volleyball, anyone?
As we continue to become more and more active as a church family, we are looking for those who like to really jump up and down. This Sunday, December 4th, we will be joining a group from the Vallejo Drive Church in volleyball. It is at 2:00 p.m. at the La Canada High School Sand Volleyball Courts, 4463 Oak Grove Drive, La Canada. In the future, we will be playing closer, most likely at Zuma Beach, on a semi-regular basis. If you are interested in participating or have questions, you may call Ben Seifert @ 805-750-0648.

Food Drive & Toy Drive
Next Sabbath (December 10th) is our monthly canned food drive. The items that we collect are distributed to the children, seniors and families in our community. You may have recently heard on the news (or read in your local newspaper) that canned food contributions has been lacking significantly over the last two months. Some of the families who have requested food assistance have been turned away. There have been many natural disasters and much human suffering over the past year, and sometimes it seems that there is an overwhelming amount of assistance needed. However, it is possible to make a difference in someone's life with even the smallest gifts. We ask you to please consider all those less fortunate than yourself, and bring in a canned food item or diapers (or whatever you can) next Sabbath. Thank you all for making a difference in our community.

And- in the next few weeks we will be having a toy drive (similar to last year's) where you may donate a toy to a child who would otherwise not receive anything for Christmas. Please stay tuned for more details!

Children's Church & Visitor's Luncheon- Next Sabbath

We will be having our monthly Children's Church next Sabbath, December 10th. Please bring your child to the Fellowship Hall at 11:30 for an hour of music, lesson, crafts, and snacks based on a Veggietales curriculum.

We will also continue with our monthly visitor's luncheon next Sabbath after services. We invite all visitors and new members (other members are welcome also) to the Wolcott home for lunch. This is a great time to get to each other and enjoy some delicious food.

Faith First Concert- Next Saturday Night!
We will be having a Faith First concert at The Place next Saturday evening, December 10th at 4 p.m. We invite EVERYONE to come out to this free event and experience the blessing of praising together.
