The Scoop- December 8th, 2005

This Week At The Place
This Sabbath Pastor Neil Richmund will be preaching at The Place. We look forward to his message and to having Scott Reed lead us in praise and worship.

And, if you can't make it this week, or any week, you may listen to the sermons on-line (we even podcast!!) Check out all the new stuff at www.theplacechurch.com.

Elder Rob Randall will be leading out in the adult Sabbath School that meets at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. They are exploring the book of Acts.

The Discipleship training class will meet this Sabbath at 10 a.m. Pastor Simon and Mindy will be leading out. The Discipleship group also meets on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m.

There are also Sabbath School classes available for all ages. Sabbath school starts at 10:30 a.m. at "The Little Place"...stop by and be blessed!

However, we will not be having our monthly Children's Church this Sabbath. We will continue with Children's Church the second Sabbath of next month. Sorry about that, kids.

We will also continue with our monthly visitor's luncheon this Sabbath after services. We invite all visitors and new members (other members are welcome also) to the Wolcott home for lunch. This is a great time to get to each other and enjoy some delicious food.

And-a reminder that your tithes and offerings are always a blessing.

Faith First Concert-This Saturday!
We will be having a Faith First concert at The Place THIS Saturday evening, December 10th at 4 p.m. We invite EVERYONE to come out to this free event and experience the blessing of praising together. We are all so excited to have the members of Faith First at The Place. If you would like to donate money toward this event, or if you would like to purchase the CD in advance, please contact Heather Richmund at hrichmund@hotmail.com or Pastor Simon at simonliversidge@hotmail.com. We look forward to seeing you at this wonderful event!

Food Drive & Toy Drive
This Sabbath (December 10th) is our monthly canned food drive. The items that we collect are distributed to the children, seniors and families in our community. You may have recently heard on the news (or read in your local newspaper) that canned food contributions has been lacking significantly over the last two months. Some of the families who have requested food assistance have been turned away. There have been many natural disasters and much human suffering over the past year, and sometimes it seems that there is an overwhelming amount of assistance needed. However, it is possible to make a difference in someone's life with even the smallest gifts. We ask you to please consider all those less fortunate than yourself, and bring in a canned food item or diapers (or whatever you can) next Sabbath. Thank you all for making a difference in our community.

And-The Place will be having a toy drive next Sabbath, December 17th. If you would like to participate in this ministry. please take a gift card from our Christmas tree this Sabbath after services. The gift card will specify either a boy's or girl's name as well as an age group to buy a gift for. Please bring an unwrapped toy next Sabbath to donate to the children in our community who may not receive a gift this Christmas without our help. Thanks for your help! If you would like more information, please contact Cindy Schumacher through the link listed below.
