The Scoop at The Place - February 16th, 2006
This Week At The PlaceThis Sabbath Pastor Simon will continue with the seventh in his series on prayer. This week's sermon is titled "Embraced By Prayer." We will study and experience the warmth of God's embrace.
We hope your prayer life has been a blessing to you and your prayers are growing in strength. We invite you to join us in daily prayer for our families, our church and our community...especially at 3:00 p.m. daily.
And, if you are not able to make it to The Place this Sabbath, please remember that you always have access to the sermons on-line (we even podcast!!). Check out all the new stuff at www.theplacechurch.com.
Elder Rob Randall will be leading out in the adult Sabbath School that meets at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. They are exploring the book of Acts. Come and join the fun!
And, we have added a NEW SABBATH SCHOOL CLASS - a MUSIC class. This class is all about music. If you are a musician or just enjoy singing, this is the place for you. Each Sabbath the group will play and sing songs and hymns and praise together. It will meet at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel next to the youth room. If you have questions, you may contact Harley Peterson at 805-499-6266. Or-stop by and enjoy the time together!
The Discipleship training class will meet this Sabbath as usual at 10:30 a.m. and next Monday evening. We continue to learn how to share the good news with others.
There are also Sabbath School classes available for all ages. Sabbath school starts at 10:30 a.m. at "The Little Place"...stop by and be blessed!
Fellowship Luncheon-This Sabbath
Baked potato bar, soup, salad, dessert and drink. Please join us for our next fellowship lunch scheduled for this Sabbath, February 18th. April Fowler, our luncheon coordinator, would like to try something new to encourage more people to attend and to have plenty of food. This month's theme is a baked potato, soup, and salad bar. However, we are still in need of volunteers to bring soup, salad, and desserts (April will be providing the potato bar). So, feel free to bring something along or contact April @ 805-523-8489 ASAP. Please join us at for a great fellowship time & a great meal!
Volleyball Night-This Saturday Evening
Yes, it is time to spike, dig and bump again. Our next volleyball night is scheduled for this Saturday evening starting at 6 p.m. at the NPAA gym. This is a time for the entire family to come out and enjoy playing games or just spending time together. Don't be intimidated. Just come out and enjoy the fun and fellowship...and bring the kids! Hope to see you there!
New Church Location-Next Sabbath Only (NOT THIS WEEK!)
Next Sabbath, February 25th, we will most likely not be meeting at The Place on Lavery Court. Roads will be closed all around the present church location due to Amgen's 6th Annual Road Race (bicycles) and no one will be allowed in or out between the APPROXIMATE times of 12 and 2 p.m. So-we will be moving our church site for one Sabbath only to another location. Most likely we will be meeting at Conejo Adventist Elementary School on Hillcrest, but, please stay tuned to next week's scoop for the details.

Drop her a card, give her a call, or join the prayer team and pick a time to pray for her. Sally's wish is to have some girl time...so let's shower her with it! Sally's phone # is 805-577-9533.

New Member Luncheon and Sabbath Afternoon Time Together
We are starting something new this year, a quarterly lunch and Sabbath afternoon time together with our new members. Since we have not done this before, we are going to start big. We are kindly requesting the presence of all members who have joined The Place in 2005 and 2006 to a Sabbath Fellowship Luncheon on March 5th. This will be a potluck time in our Fellowship Hall. Following lunch, we will spend some time together sharing the vision and mission of The Place, inviting you to share your passions and ministry ideas and to get you acquainted with life as a member of our church.
We realize that many of you are already fully integrated into church membership, but we would like to invite you anyways!!
If you can't make it to this time together, we will be doing this the first Sabbath of April and May as well in order to be able to share with each of you.
This time together is part of our effort as a church family to make sure that each member of our church is equipped for full participation as a member of the body of Christ.
If you have any questions, concerns or ideas, please contact Pastor Simon.
