The Scoop at The Place - February 2nd, 2006
This Week At The PlaceThis Sabbath Pastor Simon will continue with the fifth in his new series on prayer. This week's sermon is titled "Jesus Prays For Me."
We hope your prayer life has been a blessing to both you and your prayer partner...and we will continue to have prayer partners during the coming weeks. We invite you to join us in daily prayer for our families, our church and our community.

Elder Rob Randall will be leading out in the adult Sabbath School that meets at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. They are exploring the book of Acts. Come and join the fun!
And, we have added a NEW SABBATH SCHOOL CLASS - a MUSIC class. This class is all about music. If you are a musician or just enjoy singing, this is the place for you. Each Sabbath the group will play and sing songs and hymns and praise together. It will meet at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel next to the youth room. Please let us know id you are interested by contacting Harley Peterson at 805-499-6266. Or-stop by and enjoy the time together!
The Discipleship training class will meet this Sabbath as usual at 10:30 a.m. and next Monday evening. We continue to learn how to share the good news with others.
There are also Sabbath School classes available for all ages. Sabbath school starts at 10:30 a.m. at "The Little Place"...stop by and be blessed!
And-a reminder that your tithes and offerings are always a blessing. You may return your tithes and offerings to The Place or on-line by clicking on the link provided.
Fellowship Luncheon & Baptism-This Sabbath
There will be a baptism THIS Sabbath at the Dappalonia home following church services. Ben Reinach has made a decision for baptism and we will be celebrating with him as a church family. You are all invited to please join us for the blessed event and please bring a dish to share if you can. The Dappalonia's are located at 180 Via Rebecca in Newbury Park. Directions will be available in the lobby on Sabbath.
Children's Church & Food Drive-Next Sabbath
We will be having our monthly Children's Church next Sabbath. Please bring your son or daughter (or both) to Children's Church located in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 11:30. This month's leader is Jen Lew.
And-please remember that you may bring any canned good, diapers, wipies, and formula to our food drive next Sabbath. Each month we collect these items and donate them to the Ventura County Food Share. There will be a box marked "food drive". Thank you for your generosity!
Men's Wild At Heart-This Sunday
The men will be meeting this Sunday at 10 a.m. for their monthly Wild At Heart time. All men are invited to come and share and play together. The meeting place is at the park at the corner of Wendy and Kimber. We hope to see as many of you there as possible!
Super Bowl Fiesta-This Sunday
As many of you know, this Sunday is the big day for THE game of the year!! Please join us this Sunday, February 5th, for a Super Bowl party at Bryan and Mindy Schwarz' home, 3578 Claridge Court, Simi Valley -805-522-2148. The fun will begin at 3 p.m. This will be a great time of fun and eating...so please bring some food to share. There will be a sign up sheet this Sabbath at church for anyone who is interested in bringing food...as well as directions to the Schwarz' home.
Valentine's Dinner
You and your sweetheart are invited to a special dinner celebrating Valentine's Day on Saturday night, February 11th. Valentine's Dinner will be at Il Tiramisu Restaurant in Sherman Oaks. The cost is $30 per person and includes salad, entree, and dessert. Our dinner will be from 5:30-8 p.m. And-if you are still interested in hanging out afterward, we will be going to see a movie. Please RSVP to Joanne Park at Joanne.Park@nbc.com as soon as possible or sign up in the lobby this Sabbath for an accurate count. We hope to celebrate this special night with you! Baby Shower
Ladies of "The Place"...you are invited to come and shower Amy & Ken Miller's coming baby girl on Sunday, February 12 @ 4PM. The party will be at the @ The Andregg's Home at 132 Cindy Avenue in Newbury Park. ALSO - each pkg of disposable diapers earns you a raffle ticket for fun prizes. They are registered @ Babies R Us and Target.
Youth Vespers THIS Friday Night and More
There will be a vespers THIS Friday night, February 3rd at the Dappalonia's home, 180 Via Rebecca in Newbury Park (805-499-6524). The fun will start at 7pm. Please plan on playing some games, swimming, and relaxing with friends.
And, it's time for our next Big House vespers! Our first Youth "Big House" for 2006 is scheduled for Friday Night, February 24th @ 7pm. We are planning a dynamic Speaker, an awesome band, terrific food and a great time to hang out with one another. Please reserve this night and stay tuned for more details.
And, finally, don't forget that the NPAA gym is open to you and your friends on Sunday evenings starting at 6 p.m. Stop by and be blessed!
