The Scoop at The Place - March 2, 2006
This Week At The PlaceWe look forward to seeing all of you this Sabbath...same time and same "old" place! This week Pastor Simon will not be preaching. Instead, we will have Newbury Team Power leading praise and worship and Aaron Doyle will be sharing the message.
We hope your prayer life has been a blessing to you and your prayers are growing in strength. We invite you to join us in daily prayer for our families, our church and our community...especially at 3:00 p.m. daily.
All Sabbath Schools will meet (including the new music Sabbath School and discipleship class) at 10:30 a.m. Rob Randall will be leading the adult Sabbath school who are currently studying the book of Acts.
We also have the "Little Place" with Sabbath school classes for infants and toddlers, kindergarten aged children, earliteen classes, and youth sabbath school. Stop by and be blessed!
And, if you are not able to make it to The Place this Sabbath, please remember that you always have access to the sermons on-line (we even podcast!!). Check out all the new stuff at www.theplacechurch.com.
Also, our online photo directory is making great progress. We've been trying to get everyone's photo, but The Place is . . . well . . . a BIG Place! Please check your listing in the online directory. If your picture isn't there or you have a better picture you'd like to submit, please send your digital photo to Jeremy Bachmann at jeremy@jeremybachmann.com. Photos of spouses, kids, friends are welcome if they're too shy to ask. Individual head shots that actually look like you are ideal. Family photos not needed for this project. We can crop.
A reminder that you may also support The Place financially through your tithes and offerings by clicking on the link below or during our church services.
New Member Luncheon-This Sabbath
We are starting something new this year, a lunch and Sabbath afternoon time together with our new members. Since we have not done this before, we are going to start BIG! We are kindly requesting the presence of all members who have joined The Place in 2005 and 2006 to a Sabbath Fellowship Luncheon this Sabbath, March 5th. This will be a potluck time in our Fellowship Hall. Following lunch, we will spend some time together sharing the vision and mission of The Place, inviting you to share your passions and ministry ideas and to get you acquainted with life as a member of our church.
We realize that many of you are already fully integrated into church membership, but we would like to invite you anyways!!
We will also be doing this the first Sabbath of April. This time together is part of our effort as a church family to make sure that each member of our church is equipped for full participation as a member of the body of Christ.
If you have any questions, concerns or ideas, please contact Pastor Simon.
Whale Watching Trip-This Sunday
Yes, the weather is getting beautiful, the sea is beckoning, and the whales are saying adieu. So, keep this coming Sunday morning, March 5th available for a whale watching excursion out of the Channel Islands in Ventura. The Cost is $20 per person and the trip will be from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Contact Caleb Guevara for more information @ 805-796-7035. There will be a sign up sheet again this Sabbath...many of you have already signed up, so don't miss out.
Children's Church & Monthly Food Drive-Next Sabbath
Next Sabbath, March 11th, we will be having our monthly children's church. This is a time designed especially for the little ones as they learn about Jesus and Christian values through story, music, crafts, and snack. This month's leader is Heather Richmund. Children's Church starts at 11:30 in the fellowship hall.
Next Sabbath we will have our monthly canned food drive. The items that we collect are distributed to thousands of children, seniors and families in our community. They are in special need of peanut butter, tuna fish and diapers. There will be a box by the door next Sabbath for your contributions. James 2:22 "Seeth thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works faith made perfect." Thank you for your continued support of our community
