Children's Church & Food Drive-Next Sabbath
Next Sabbath, May 13th, we will be continuing with our Children's Church. Children's Church begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Your little one is invited to come and learn about Jesus through a Veggietales curriculum that incorporates story, song, craft, and snack.

Also taking place next week is the monthly food drive. The items that we collect are distributed to thousands of children, seniors and families in our community. These individuals are very thankful for our donations and kindness. There will be a box by the door next Sabbath for your contributions. Thank you for your continued support for our community. Mark 12:31 "Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these."

Friday Night Cafe Vespers
We will be having our next Friday night vespers on May 12th (a week from tomorrow) starting at 7:30 p.m. at The Place. We invite you and your friends to come to our cafe vespers and enjoy a night of praise, worship, fellowship and time in the Word.

May Sabbath Fun and Baptisms
This month is going to be an active month for many Placers! First, we have a kayaking trip planned for next Sabbath, May 13th. We will be kayaking out of the Ventura Harbor at 3 p.m. Please meet at church at 2:30 p.m. or at the harbor at 3 p.m. in front of the Greek restaurant. The cost will be approximately $10-15 per person. There will be a sign up sheet this Sabbath.

And-the following Sabbath, May 20th we are having a very special Fellowship Luncheon at the Dappalonia's house...followed by the baptism of Feliza and Alex Barrientos. After our fellowship luncheon, you are invited to come out for a bike or hike at Cheseboro State Park. For more information about this event or the kayaking trip, please contact Caleb Guevara at 805-796-7035.

Community Action Day-June 3rd
Sabbath, June 2nd is Community Action Day. We will be joining many area churches as they carry out community service projects. There are many service projects to choose from, but as a church we have chosen a few to concentrate on. If you are interested in more information, or would like to sign up, please do so in the lobby this Sabbath at church. If we are able to fill the ones we have chosen, we will take more!!

Mommies Ministry
This month ALL mommies get to be showered with love! In celebration of Mother's Day, each mommy will have an opportunity to brighten another mommy's day all month long. If you have expressed an interest in participating in the name exchange, then you should be receiving your mommy's name soon (if you have not already). If you have not had a chance to respond to Heather about this, you still have time-just e-mail Heather via the link below. Some of the ways you can shower another mommy with love are through phone calls, cards, flowers, babysitting, dinners, prayer, or whatever you feel would be special.

Some of our other activites this month are:
Wednesday May 10th-Let's go to the Santa Barbara Zoo. Please meet at the Starbucks located in the Village plaza (next to NPAA) at 10 a.m. We will have lunch together at the zoo at about 12:30. There is a cafe that offers vegetarian meals or you can always bring your own lunch. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 2 and up.

Sunday, May 21st-Hike in Pacific Palisades. This is a hike for all mommies. We will meet at 8 a.m. at the Starbucks located on Moorpark Ave (next to Pier One Imports). This is a moderate hike about a mile in length. If you would like to go, please contact Cecilia Liversidge at cecilialiversidge@hotmail.com. Please bring a small bible (if you have one). After the hike, we will have breakfast at a cafe in Malibu.

Wednesday, May 31st-Girl's Night Out-mark this night on your calendars and stay tuned for more details.

Nominating Committee
Our Nominating Committee for The Place has begun their work, so if you are a member of The Place you should be hearing from us (and sometimes from several people!) We would LOVE for you to be involved with us. We also love to start new things or to help train you if you are interested in a particular ministry, but don't feel adequately prepared.

As an added resource, the ministries page on The Place website can give you some ideas of what ministries we have and ideas for ones we could have! We've included general ministry descriptions from other Adventist churches as a guide, but not as a rule. Find your own place in the body of Christ using the unique gifts God gave you!
