The Scoop at The Place

This Week At The Place/Sabbath Morning Community Prayer Time
Happy Fourth Of July Weekend! We hope you have a safe and memorable few days of rest with your family and other loved ones.

We look forward to seeing you this Sabbath at The Place. This week Pastor Simon will continue preaching over the new series on the book of 1 John, focused on Finding Joy. This week's sermon is titled "The Reality Of Joy" which covers 1 John chapter 3.

You are invited to attend a special morning prayer time this coming Sabbath (and EVERY week!) at 9:45 a.m. before Sabbath School. Come join us and pray over our church, and for special needs in the community. Hope to see many of you there!

All Sabbath School classes will meet this week. The classes meet at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Simon will be leading out in the Sanctuary class. Rob Randall will be leading the general adult Sabbath school which will begin studying the book of Romans, and, Harley Peterson will be leading out anyone interested in music...in our music Sabbath School.

We also have the "Little Place" with Sabbath School classes for infants and toddlers, kindergarten aged children, earliteen classes, and youth sabbath school. Stop by and be blessed!

Youth Beach Vespers-This Friday
The youth are having their first Beach Vespers for the summer this Friday night (that's tomorrow night), June 30th at Sycamore Cove at 6:30 p.m. Get ready for a great time together and invite some friends!

And-do you want to have a Blast this summer and stay connected with friends ? Be a part of the "Wednesday Night Insight". Every Wednesday night (starting this coming Wednesday, July 5, the youth will be meeting at 7:30 pm to share ideas, concerns, enjoy activities, and hang out at different locations such as the beach, around the pool, coffee shop, etc We look forward to getting your insight.

Greeter's Luncheon-This Sabbath
There will be a greeter's luncheon held this coming Sabbath, July 1st at Erik & Alisa Kalberg's home in Simi Valley. This meeting is for individuals who are interested in becoming greeters next year, as well as for continuing greeters. We will have a chance to re-group as well as fellowship together. This will be a potluck luncheon and the theme is "Mexican" so please bring food to share. The Kalberg's address is 2244 Trinway Ave in Simi Valley.

Tijuana Mission Trip & Fiesta Benefit Dinner & Auction
Our mission trip is almost here! It will take place in Tijuana, Baja California the 16-23rd of July (that's next month!). But...we still need your help! Our goal is to raise $20,000 for this project. It will fund the building of a new church (which we are building!) for a group of almost 200 believers.

Our BIG Fundraiser will take place next Saturday night, July 8th at 6:30 p.m. This will be our Fiesta Benefit Dinner & Auction held at the NPAA cafeteria. It will be a Mexican theme with food, fun and even a pinata for the kids. But, we need YOU (and your friends) to come!

We still need help in soliciting businesses for donations of goods or services to auction. We are also looking for willing church members who would like to offer services, or baked goods to auction. And-we would LOVE for everyone to attend this benefit!!

Please contact Pastor Simon if you or someone you know would like to donate your money or your time or to assist in fundraising. Thank you.

Bless The Army Man-This Week!
We want to bless John Alcala who is in the army and currently stationed in Afghanistan. His fiance, Lilia Ochoa is presently studying with Pastor Simon. John would love to hear from us and receive care packages. So, with that said, please bring any goodies you would like to send by Sabbath, July 1st (make life easy - bring them THIS week!) If you would like to know exactly what to bring, please check the list of items in the red, white, and blue box located in the church lobby. If you have any further questions, please contact Cindy Schumacher via the link listed below. Thanks for your generosity!

World Cup Party
We will be having a World Cup Party on Sunday, July 9th to watch the FINALS of the World Cup. The fun will start at 11 a.m. at Randy Aybar's house in Wood Ranch. We invite you and your friends to come out and have some fun! Stay tuned for more details.

Mommies Ministry
Now that June is over the mommies committe is planning for another wonderful summer month in July. Starting next Wednesday, July 5th, we will be having another pool party at the NPAA pool starting at 10:30 a.m. The pool is nice and warm so the kids will want to stay and have a blast! Please bring lunch and stay tuned for other fun activities during July.

Also on the agenda is our second annual "SPA DAY" at "Spa De La Paz". Just wanted to let all of the mommies know that this is one of our greatest treats all year long. On Sunday, July 23rd, you are invited over to Denise Ramirez' home for a day of utter and complete pampering. You can come relax and sit by the pool and enjoy some of the wonderful food that will be catered for only about $10 or you may truly bask and receive a massage, facial, manicure, and/or pedicure. Manicures will run $20, pedicures $35, massages and facials $45 for 30 minutes or $70 for an hour massage or facial, or a 30 min massage & a 30 min facial for $80, or a 90 min massage and a 90 min facial for $100 or a 60 min massage & a 60 minute facial for $140. Please RSVP to Cecilia Liversidge ASAP if you think you will be receiving any of these treatments. This will be a day you wont want to miss!!

Pastor's Study
The Pastor's Study is continuing through the summer at The Place. Please join us on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. as we look at Seventh Day Adventist/Christian Doctrines. It's not too late to start attending! If you would like more information regarding these meetings, please contact Pastor Simon.
