The Scoop at The Place - August 24, 2006

This Week At The Place
We look forward to seeing you this Sabbath at The Place. This week
Pastor Simon will begin a new series on the book of Jonah. This
week's sermon is titled "A Message From The Lord". As detailed
below, we will be dedicating our teachers before this new school
year.

We invite you to Sabbath School this week. Our Sabbath School
classes meet at 10:30 a.m. Rob Randall will be leading the general
adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans. We also
have the "Little Place" with Sabbath School classes for infants and
toddlers, kindergarten aged children, earliteen classes, and youth
sabbath school. Stop by and be blessed!

You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The
Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. Come
and pray for our church or bring your special needs.

Teacher Dedication-This Sabbath
There will be a special teacher dedication this coming Sabbath at
The Place. The dedication will be for teachers from our local
schools Newbury Park Adventist Academy and Conejo Adventist
Elementary School, but also for those teaching at many other schools
including Simi Valley Adventist Elementary. Our special guest, Don
Schneider, the president of the North American Division, who will be
visiting us this weekend will lead the dedication.

Bowling Night-This Saturday Night
This month's social is almost upon us. THIS Saturday night, August
26th is bowling night. We will be bowling at Harley's Bowling Alley
in Simi Valley. Please meet at 7:45 p.m. We will bowl from 8-10
p.m. The social committee will be covering all costs except shoe
rentals. If you are interested in joining the fun, please sign up
in the lobby this Sabbath or directly with Jona Cooke at
408-219-6003.

Community Service Project-This Sunday
This Sunday we will embark on another community service project.
This project will support the shelter for battered women in Oxnard.
The location is presently a call center that is being converted into
a home. There is a lot of deferred maintenance that needs to be
done like termite repair, plumbing, rain gutters, electrical and
roof issues. The target date to open the house and move families in
is October 1st. We will meet at The Place at 9 a.m. For more
information and to sign up so we know you are coming, please contact
Andrea Harlan at 805-551-7636 or sign up at church.

Mission Trip & Maranatha Convention Information
A small group is heading back to Tijuana during the week of
September 17-24 to finish the work that was started during last
month's church building mission trip. If you are interested in
going to the new church in Tijuana to do some church painting or
some electrical work, please contact Pastor Simon.

And, we are already getting ready for our next mission project. Our
church has committed to build a church in Ecuador late July/early
August of 2007. If you are interested in going on next year's
