The Scoop at The Place - November 16th, 2006

This Week At The Place
We look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath. This week
Pastor Simon will be preaching at The Place. This week's sermon is
titled "The Overcoming Disciple." It will focus on Romans 6. We
will also be celebrating the baptisms of Alyssa Doyle and Amie
Werner. Aaron Doyle will be leading us in our praise time.

We invite you to Sabbath School this week. Our Sabbath School
classes meet at 10:30 a.m. Rob Randall will be leading the general
adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans.

We also have the "Little Place" with Sabbath School classes for
infants and toddlers, kindergarten aged children, earliteen classes,
and youth sabbath school. Stop by and be blessed!

You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The
Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. Come
and pray for our church or bring your special needs.

Fellowship Luncheon and Baptisms-This Sabbath
This coming Sabbath, November 18th, will be a very special one as
Amie Werner and Alyssa Doyle have made a decision to be baptized.
We invite you to celebrate with them as they make their commitment
to Christ.

We will be having the baptisms and a fellowship luncheon following
church. Bryan and Mindy Schwarz will be hosting the luncheon, but it
will be at their relatives home, the Gaines'. The Gaines family live
at 3192 Sycamore Drive in Simi Valley (805-583-3192). It is north of
the 118 on Sycamore. Please bring food to share. And, come out and
celebrate with us as we welcome Amie and Alyssa into our church
family. Directions will be available at The Place.

And- just so that you may plan ahead, we will have another very
special luncheon and baptisms the following Sabbath, November 25th
for Zoey Reinach and Victoria Olsen... this will also be hosted by
Bryan and Mindy Schwarz at their home located at 3578 Claridge Ct.
in Simi Valley. Plan on bringing your Thanksgiving extras!


Baby, Baby, & Baby Shower this Saturday night
The New Year will see our membership growing yet again
with new additions coming to: the Liversidge family, Shea family,
and Brandon Fausset family. The Liversidge's and Shea's are
expecting a baby girl and the Fausset's are expecting a baby boy.
Our church is planning a combined shower to prepare for these
blessed ones this coming Saturday night, November 18th at the
Pacific Union Conference Office inside the Fireside Room. The
festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. If you would like to help with
snacks please call Cindy Andregg@(805)376-1115. This should be a
really fun time. The Union Office is located at 2686 Townsgate Road
in Westlake Village (exit off the 101 on Westlake Blvd and go south;
turn right on Townsgate and the PUC office is immediately on your
left.)

All ladies are registered at babies r us and the Shea's and
Fausset's are also registered at potterybarnkids.com. Hope to see
you there!


Time for Bowling again!
Our social committee is planning another fun event for the month of
November. Please join us on Saturday night, November 25th as we
will be bowling the night away at Harley's Simi Bowl. The church
will be paying for the lanes; we just ask that you pay for your shoe
rental. Please meet at 7 p.m. If you are interested in going,
please sign up in the lobby this Sabbath.


New Collegiate/Young Adult Small Group
Yes, it is true. We are once again starting a new small group for
the younger set. We will be meeting for the first time this Friday
night, November 17th at Dan and Tami Hartman's home at 7:30 p.m.
Dan and Tami live at 936 Dunbar Lane, Thousand Oaks (right behind
the Oaks Mall.) 805-449-0076. We will worship, study and share
together. If you have questions, please contact Dan, Tami or Pastor
Simon.

For those who have been longing for something to do on Friday
nights...don't miss out!!!


Care Packages For Soldiers
The Place will be sending holiday care packages to James Baker, John
Alcala, Josue and Samuel Gomez. James is currently serving in Iraq.
John is serving in Afghanistan. Josue has just returned from Iraq.
Samuel is in training in the Midwest. Please bring one of the items
listed below. We will package the items and mail the items to them.
You are welcome to include a note to let them know that we are
thinking about them and we are praying for them.
Travel size Tylenol, Brown socks, Beef Jerky, Black socks, Snack
size cookies, Magazine's, Bicycle Playing cards, Chex mix,
Peanuts/Cashews, Packaged Soup, Prepaid phone card, Tuna, Gatorade
Protein Bars, Books, Magazines ( science, computer, business ..),
Sour Candy.

Mommies Ministry
As the month of November is in full swing, the mommies ministry
would like to remind you of a few activities that are still to come.

This Friday, November 17th we will be having our special mommy and
me Thanksgiving dinner hosted by Alisa Kalberg. Please bring your
little ones to celebrate Thanksgiving together. Our dinner will
start at 3 p.m. Please sign up to bring food with Alisa at
805-582-0304 or with Cecilia at 805-531-0494...this will be a
wonderful time!

Thursday, November 30th-Save the date as it's Girl's Night Out! We
will go to dinner and a movie at The Westlake Promenade at 6:30
p.m...details to follow.

And-the mommies ministry will be having a Christmas party and gift
exchange in December. If you would like to be part of this
exchange, please contact Cecilia at cecilialiversidge@hotmail.com
to fill out an information card. Our party will take place at Denise
Ramirez's home starting at 4 p.m. Hope you can all make it!

The Place Christmas Party - December 9th
Yes, it is almost that time of year! I can hear the Christmas Carols
playing in the mall and that means you should mark your calendars
for some fun. Our Place Christmas Party is going to be on Saturday
night, December 9th. It will again be a progressive Christmas Party.
So, please save that date, and starting next Sabbath, you can sign
up to bring food and goodies.
