The Scoop - December 21st, Joyful Christmas!
This Week At The Place-Joyous Christmas ProgramWe look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath. This Sabbath we will be celebrating the Christmas holiday with a very joyous Christmas program. Bring your friends along for this festive occasion. We will have our own Christmas band leading us in praise; drama with Zac Crook, Brian Lane, Walter Hamlin and Robbie Wolcott; special musical items featuring Shearin Matute; Alexandra Randall; Matt Fowler, Xavier Lemond and our children's choir, as well as a dramatic reading and more! This is a great opportunity to invite a friend to come and worship and experience the joy of Christmas at The Place. Pastor Simon will be speaking about Christmas. Our theme is No Room in the Inn.
We invite you to Sabbath School this week. Our Sabbath School classes meet at 10:30 a.m. Rob Randall will be leading the general adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans.
We also have the "Little Place" with Sabbath School classes for infants and toddlers, kindergarten aged children, earliteen classes, and youth sabbath school. Stop by and be blessed!
You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. Come and pray for our church or bring your special needs.
Christmas Communion & Vespers-This Friday Night
This Friday night, December 22nd, we will celebrate Jesus with a Christmas communion vespers. Our night will begin at 7 p.m. at The Place. Come celebrate the Christmas holiday with Christmas carols, time in the Word, and communion followed by light refreshments and snacks. This will be a wonderful time together to celebrate with one another and to remember the reason for the season...JESUS! We hope all of you can make it!
Merry Christmas
Christmas is a such a blessed time of the year. As we approach this holiday, we pray that all of you take time to reflect on the truly precious gifts we have been given. Christ coming to earth as a babe so that He could live among us and in us and teach us how to love one another; the priceless gifts of family and friends; and the immense blessings of health and life. We wish you the merriest of Christmases complete with much peace and love. Your lives are a gift to us at The Place and we praise God for you and your family.
Congratulations to the Shea's!!
Some of our dear members received their Christmas gift early this year! On Wednesday morning, December 20th Brannon and Robin Shea became parents for the second time. Little Camdyn Noel was born at 6:36 a.m. and weighed 8 lbs 5 oz and measured 21 inches in length. Both baby and mommy are doing very well. We are so happy for the Shea's and look forward to meeting Camdyn soon!
If you are interested in participating in the meal service to Brannon and Robyn, it will begin after Christmas. Please contact Alisa Kalberg at ACKalberg@aol.com for more information and to sign up. Thanks!
Adventure Groups Forming Now
Since the conclusion of our Discipleship class, Pastor Simon has been meeting with our disciples regarding new adventure groups. These groups are premised on doing something you enjoy, but with the intention of inviting new believers. Some of the groups we will be starting include such simple things as hiking, surfing, scrap-booking, current events discussion and much more. They are an oppportunity to get a group of people together on a regular basis in spiritual community, but with the intention of inviting others. We will be signing up to join a group at the end of January. But, we are still looking for leaders with ideas. If you have an idea for an adventure group, please talk to Pastor Simon.
Mommies Ministry
The mommies ministry has had a wonderful year. We have been blessed to grow and share together in so many ways. We look forward to a new year and new experiences and we pray that all of you enjoy a wonderful Christmas.
Gift giving time
As the year comes to an end, we invite your continued support of The Place. We have many ministry needs, particularly our support for our worthy students and needy families and our mission work, as well as our church budget needs. We are also committed to continuing to bless our community. We thank you so much for your support of The Place in 2006 and we invite your continued generosity. You may return your tithes and offerings at The Place or on-line by clicking on the link. Thanks.
