The Scoop at The Place on November 30, 2006
This Week At The PlaceWe look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath. This week
Pastor Simon will continue his series on Discipleship. This week's
sermon is titled "The Public Disciple". It will focus on 1
Corinthians chapter 3. We will also be having a baby dedication for
Andres Diaz-Granados with a special music by Shearin Matute.
We invite you to Sabbath School this week. Our Sabbath School
classes meet at 10:30 a.m. Rob Randall will be leading the general
adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans.
We also have the "Little Place" with Sabbath School classes for
infants and toddlers, kindergarten aged children, earliteen classes,
and youth sabbath school. Stop by and be blessed!
You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The
Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. Come
and pray for our church or bring your special needs.

Visitor's Luncheon-This Sabbath
Our monthly visitor's luncheon is scheduled for this coming Sabbath.
Harley and Dawn Peterson will be hosting. We invite all visitors
and new members to come by and spend some time getting to know other
members of The Place. Of course, all members are invited. We just
ask that you please bring food to share. Harley and Dawn are
located at 187 Hilliard on the NPAA campus. Hope to see you there!
November 30th
This Sabbath we will be having our monthly children's church.
Please bring your little one to the fellowship hall at 11:30 a.m.
for an hour of fun learning about Christ through music, story,
craft, and snacks. This month's leader is Meg Quilop.
A note to let everyone know that there will not be a food drive this
month. We look forward to continuing our food drive in the new
year.
Junior/Earliteen Holiday Party-This Saturday Night
You're invited to come out to an earliteen (5th -8th graders)
holiday party THIS coming Saturday night...come have fun with us!
There will be pizza, popcorn, ice-cream, chips, games, relays, a
cookie decorating contest, maybe a movie -- you get the idea!!
Please save this Saturday night, December 2nd from 6:30 pm to 9:30
pm. The party will be held at Bryan and Mindy Schwarz's home
located at 3578 Claridge Court in Simi Valley, CA 93063. This is
also a great time to invite your friends who don't normally come to
The Place. Please contact Mindy Schwarz at (805) 522-2148 with
questions or to let us know you're coming.
Mommies Christmas Party-This Sunday
The mommies ministry is having their Christmas party this coming
Sunday, December 3rd. The cooking party and gift exchange will
start at 4 p.m. at Denise Ramirez's home in Newbury Park. If you
have not signed up to be on a cooking team already, please contact
Alisa Kalberg to participate. This will be a wonderful night together.

The Place Progressive Christmas Party
It's that time of the year once again! We will be celebrating the
Christmas holiday as a church famiily on Saturday night, December
9th. This will follow our progressive church outline with
appetizers/salads, entree, and dessert and ornament exchange each at
a different member's home. Please sign up to help with food items
this Sabbath. We appreciate your help and look forward to
celebrating this joyous time of the year with you!
Christmas Toy Drive
As we are approaching Christmas we would like to remind all of you
of the many needy children in our community. We will be starting a
toy drive next Sabbath. Please bring a wrapped gift (please specify
if it is for a boy or girl) to church next Sabbath, December 9th.
There will be a box in the lobby for the gifts that will go to the
needy children of Ventura County. Thanks so much for your help!
Youth Stuff
Take out your calendars...there are several fun activities planned
for the youth in the month of December!
First, there will be a youth Christmas party on Friday night,
December 8th at the Nomelli's home. The Nomelli's are located at
1151 Sycamore Drive in Simi Valley. Come enjoy a night of yummy
food, games, and a movie.
Also, there will be a Youth Big House this month. Save the night of
December 15th, a Friday night. The Big House will begin at 7 p.m.at
The Place and Mr. Nelson will be the guest speaker. It will be a
great night full of praise and worship, food and a social. Hope to
see you all there!
