This Week At The Place
We look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath. This week Aaron Doyle along with Newbury Teen Power from Newbury Park Academy will be leading our praise and worship time. There will also be a drama and special music.

We invite you to Sabbath School this week. Our Sabbath School classes meet at 10:30 a.m. Deane Wolcott will be leading the general adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans.

We also have the "Little Place" with Sabbath School classes for infants and toddlers, kindergarten aged children, earliteen classes, and youth sabbath school. Stop by and be blessed!

You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. Come and pray for our church or bring your special needs.

Super Bowl Party- This Sunday
We will be having our annual Super Bowl party at Aaron and Denise Ramirez's home this Sunday, February 4th. The fun will start at 3 p.m. as the Colts take on the Bears. This is a great time together, complete with football, food, fun and fellowship! Please sign up to bring food in the lobby this Sabbath. Hope to see you there! Aaron and Denise live at 4431 Paseo De La Paz in Newbury Park (right off Lynn Road.) (805-498-3365.)

Valentine's Celebration
We will be having our annual Valentine's dinner, "Hearts On Fire" on Sunday night, February 18th. Mark your calendars so that you can celebrate with your sweetheart at our Fondue Extravaganza. This year's dinner is also a fundraiser for our upcoming mission trip to Ecuador as we recognizes hearts on fire for those less fortunate. Please join us for an evening of fondue and fellowship. This event will be in the Conference Room at the Pacific Union Conference Office. The cost is $15 per person. If you would like to know more about "Hearts On Fire", please contact Meg Quilop at 805-490-1436. There will be a sign up sheet in the lobby at The Place this Sabbath. We hope you all can come and celebrate together.

New Kindergarten Sabbath School and more
We have a new kindergarten sabbath school that will be starting THIS Sabbath, February 3rd. This class is designed for 4-6 year olds. If you have any items for donation such as throw pillows, area rugs, or other items that might make it cozy for the new group, please contact the coordinator, Doris Fulgham at 818-216-6748. They will be having fun with the great stories of the Bible. We are excited about this new opportunity for our kids!

Also starting THIS Sabbath, February 3rd will be a new Sabbath school for young adult ages focusing on Doctrines with Pastor Simon. The class will start at 10:30 a.m. Please contact Pastor Simon for more details. But, if you are interested in Bible Studies or have questions about the Bible, this is the place for you.

Blanket Drive & Urgent Food Need
We are currently working on a home made blanket drive, in support of seriouly ill children in Ventura County. This project is called "Project Linus." Project Linus is a nonprofit organization who's mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers."

If you would like to participate by making a blanket, we will have a box by the door, to collect hand made blankets until Sabbath, February 11th. The blankets must be washable. The blankets that we donate will be distributed to hospitals, family organizations and fire departments throughout Ventura County. If you have any questions, contact Cindy Schumacher - Cindy6359@msn.com or Sandy Duarte - brimic4514@aol.com.

Also, due to record cold temperatures, Ventura County has suffered record crop damage...which also leaves local farm workers out of work and with no resources! Food Share in Oxnard is serving as a collection point for corn flour, dry beans, rice, diapers and financial donations. Financial donations are the most helpful as Food Share can buy at bulk at huge discounts. We will be collecting food supplies next Sabbath, February 11. But, you may make financial donations at any time. Simply mark your check "emergency farm worker assistance ventura county." Thanks for your Godly response.

Softball Sign-Ups and Concert Sign-Ups
For those who would like fun and fellowship while playing together...we are going to field a softball team this spring. Our hope is to have a co-ed team; however, that will all depend on who is interested in playing. So ladies WE NEED YOU! Likewise, the day of the week on which we will play will depend on the team’s make-up. More details can be found on the sign-up form on the back table at church on Sabbath. If you have any interest please sign up using the form at church or you may contact Fred Harlan (805-990-0578 or fwh-igt@earthlink.net). Play begins March 4.

Also coming soon is a concert with Mercy Me and AudioAdrenaline. These two bands are scheduled to be in concert on Friday night, March 2nd in Santa Barbara. We will be buying tickets THIS WEEK. The tickets are $22 (if you want to buy the $37 seats, please indicate). If you are interested, please sign up in the lobby or with Pastor Simon by this Sabbath.

Adventure Groups
You have been hearing a lot about our adventure groups. They are fellowship groups based on interests you are passionate about, and designed to be a place to invite your unchurched friends and neighbors. Some of you are planning adventure groups based on surfing, hiking, cross-stitching, beauty, prayer, autism support group and more. We will have a sign-up Sabbath on February 10th at The Place. But, if you have an interest in beginning something adventurous, please talk to Pastor Simon.
