The Scoop at The Place - March 1, 2007

This Week At The Place
We look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath. This week we invite everyone for FAMILY WORSHIP as Pastor Simon preaches on John 4 and God's invitation to your family and what it means for us as His people. This week's sermon is called "Relax in God's Family." Giovanna Alves will be sharing a special song and Chad Reisser will be leading worship.

We invite you to Sabbath School this week. In addition to our cradle roll, primary. earliteen, and youth Sabbath school classes that meet at 10:30 a.m., we have several new classes including a new kindergarten class for 4-6 year olds, a young adult class with Pastor Simon, and a relational class facilitated by Arla Caraboolad that meets in the Mother's room and starts at 10:15 a.m. Rob Randall will be leading the general adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans. Stop by and be blessed!

You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. Come and pray for our church or bring your special needs.

Adventure Groups
Yes, the adventure has begun and the adventure groups are ready to go. They are fellowship groups based on interests you are passionate about, and designed to be a place to invite your unchurched friends and neighbors. Some of groups have already started. If you are still not sure if you would like to get involved, take a look at the list of possibilities: basketball; soccer; snowboarding; cross-stitch; scrapbooking; guitar and bass; beauty; surfing; hiking; reflexology; hot flashers; mommies; entrepreneurs, AND snowboarders! You may still sign up in the lobby.
This Sunday will be the first meeting for the family hiking adventure group. If you are interested in coming out, we will meet at Wildwood Park at 10 a.m. in the parking lot off of Los Arboles Ave. Please contact Simon or Cecilia Liversidge at 805-498-2300.

You can see all our groups and sign up on-line at http://www.theplacechurch.com/adventuregroups.asp.
Remember, we want your participation...but we also encourage you to make this a place where you can invite your friends who don't yet know Jesus!!

Ecuador Mission Trip 2007
This year The Place will be going on another mission trip to Ecuador, where we will be building a church. The trip is scheduled for August 1-12, the airplane reservations have been made and the group is almost full. If you are interested in being a part of this wonderful experience, NOW is the time to contact Pastor Simon at simonliversidge@hotmail.com as there are only a few spaces left. There will be a brief meeting after church this Sabbath, March 3rd to begin planning.

Children's Church, Food Drive, & Baby Dedications Next Sabbath
We will be having our monthly children's church next Sabbath, March 10th. Please bring your little one to the Fellowship Hall at 11:30 for an hour of fun learning about Jesus. This month's leader is Meaghan Quilop.

Next week there will be a box labeled "food drive" in the lobby where you may place your donations...thanks for your generosity.

And, next Sabbath we will also be having a special dedication service for Camdyn Noelle Shea and Mia Ariane Liversidge. Please join us as we celebrate new life!
