The Scoop at The Place - May 31, 2007

This Week At The Place
We look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath. This Sabbath Pastor Simon will continue preaching over the book of John. This week's sermon is on chapter 11 and is titled "3 If's, 1 & 2 Big Buts" and it will focus on life and death.

We invite you to Sabbath School this week. In addition to our cradle roll, primary. earliteen, and youth Sabbath school classes that meet at 10:30 a.m., we have several new classes including a new kindergarten class for 4-6 year olds, a young adult class with Pastor Simon.

Rob Randall will be leading the general adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans. Arla's class focusing on 1 John will be meeting again this week. Stop by and be blessed!

You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m.

We encourage you to challenge God to be faithful as well! We are about to bring on our new associate pastor, and that will raise our church budget by about 50%. We believe that this addition will be an incredible blessing to our church and our community, but we ask you to consider this faith venture and join us in this step as you return your tithes and offerings.

To do so, you may click on the link below or return these gifts at The Place.

Baby Dedication & Gifts For Gracelynn Campagna

Maurice and Tamika Watkins will be dedicating their twin girls, Bonnie & Sophie this coming Sabbath at The Place. We are so excited to be a part of this joyous occasion as these two precious girls are dedicated to God. There will be special music by Charese Davis, Maurice's sister. The Watkins would also like to invite you to their home for lunch following church services as part of this family celebration. The Watkins live at 4125 Pulido Court in Calabasas.

Also, as many of you know, Stacy Campagna recently had her little baby girl, Gracelynn. In lieu of a baby shower, Stacy has asked that we bring any gifts we would like to gift her baby with to church. Gracelynn's theme is princess and frogs, and books are always welcome. Please bring your gifts for Gracie by Sabbath, June 9th. Sally Baher will be taking the basket over to Stacy's home. If you decide to give little Gracie a book, please include a gift receipt. If you have any questions, pleaase contact Sally Baher at 805-577-9533. Thank you for your generosity.

A New Pastor In Town
We are so happy to announce that we will have a new associate pastor as of July 1st. Steve Carlson will be joining Pastor Simon and the rest of the Placers to be our young adult/collegiate/youth pastor and be involved as a worship leader and working with our worship teams as well. We are very excited to have Steve and his wife, Daisy come on board with us, and are looking forward to this tremendous blessing for our young people! If you have a passion for working with this age group, or are a youth, collegiate or young adult and are interested in ministry in this area, please talk to Pastor Simon...and soon, to Pastor Steve!

Community Action Day-This Sabbath and Sunday & Food Drive Next Sabbath
This year the annual ACTION Day will be on June 2. ACTION Day is a day when Christians unite together to impact their communities by showing God's love in creative and practical ways. We will be participating with 65+ churches in Ventura County. This year the annual ACTION Day will be on June 2 and June 3rd. This year we have 2 projects:

June 2nd - We need 10 to 20 volunteers to wash windows in 70 classrooms at Sycamore Canyon School in Newbury Park. The group will be leaving from The Place at 8:30 a.m. and returning by 11:00 a.m. in time for church. Please come out and be a part of blessing our local community.

June 3rd - Continue helping at the battered women's shelter. A group will be going this Sunday morning to continue our work at the shelter. We invite you to join this precious ministry.

If you have any questions or need more info, please email Cindy Schumacher at Cindy6359@msn.com or call at (805) 579-9557.

We will continue our monthly food drive next Sabbath, June 9th. Every month we collect canned goods, diapers, wipies, and formula and donate them to the Ventura County Shelter. Please bring your donations next Sabbath and place them inside the box marked "food drive" located in the lobby. Thanks for your support.

Ecuador Mission Trip Fundraiser & Meeting this Sabbath

The Place is planning a mission trip this summer to Ecuador to build a church. There will be a meeting this coming Sabbath after church services to discuss several important matters. This meeting is necessary for anyone planning to go on the trip.

We are also planning a garage sale fundraiser on Sunday, June 17th. We are ready NOW to start collecting your donations for the sale. We invite you to take some time to clean out your garage and assist us in raising money for this worthy project.

First Impressions by Heidi - Ceramic Event This Sabbath
