Beach Vespers-This Friday Night & Softball Update
Our monthly beach vespers is scheduled for this coming Friday, June 29th. We meet at our usual spot in Sycamore Cove at 5:45 p.m. Come join us for food, worship, and a beautiful sunset. If you can bring some food to share, that will be appreciated. We will be welcoming Steve and Daisy Carlson into our fellowship!
Directions to the vespers are 101 North; exit Las Posas all the way to Pacific Coast Hwy, and go south about 5 miles. The beach is on your right!
The Placers softball team finished their spectacular regular season the way they began – with a win. Their latest victims: Robot Chicken, by a score of 14-9. The Placers’ strapping defense proved to be the difference maker. Robert Nomelli put an exclamation mark on his bid for being the league’s top pitcher by posting a perfect record of 6-0 with an ERA of 4.17 (outstanding in slow-pitch softball). Fred Harlan had two unassisted double plays and a diving catch at short. Aaron Ramirez made a number of great plays in center, as always. Likewise, Sandy Werner had another strong effort at 1st. But the real star of the game was Sheryl Nomelli who jumped from the stands into the line-up, saving the Placers from what appeared to be an eminent forfeit. The Placers will put their skills to the test this Sunday as they open the playoffs at 6:15, at Borchard Park. Great seats are still available.
Church BBQ & Movie Night
The Vineyard Church has invited us to participate in their BBQ/Movie night scheduled for THIS Saturday evening, June 30th. The BBQ starts at 5 p.m. at The Place. We will be viewing a powerful film, "Facing The Giants" together at 6 p.m. Please sign up this Sabbath if you would like to share in the BBQ or if you would like to have child care during the film. The event is totally free. The Vineyard is generously inviting us to come and share this evening with them...so, let's do it!

Ministry and Adventure
We are so blessed at The Place to have so many of you involved in our ministry - both in our church and in our community. But, as we are almost concluding our nominating committee process, we still have several areas of need. Please contact Pastor Simon if you have any interest in participating: in Cafe Ministry; Children's Church; as a Deacon; in Fellowship Lunches; as a Greeter; or in our Video ministry (running the video portion of our service.)
This Sabbath we will have our tentative nominating committees lists, and we invite your comments. Please let us know if we need to make any changes.
And, as we start a new ministry calendar, we want to thank those who are stepping down from leadership for their great leadership this past year. Sheryl Nomelli for Cafe Ministry; Cindy Schumacher for Community Service; Dawn Peterson for our Visitors Luncheon; April Fowler for our Fellowship Luncheons (btw, we still need someone to replace her!!); Robert Nomelli for our youth ministry. And, a HUGE thank you to David Haynes for leading our Praise Ministry for the last two years! All of these people are continuing in ministry at The Place, but are stepping down from leadership in those ministries, and we want to thank them so much!
And, are you feeling Adventurous? - There is Indoor soccer this sunday at 8 p.m. at NPAA and others ready to start new adventures, including mountain biking...what would you like to do and who would you like to invite?
