The Scoop at The Place - August 16, 2007
This Week At The PlaceWe look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath. This Sabbath Pastor Simon will continue preaching on the book of John. This week's sermon is titled "The Truth About Being A Disciple" and focuses on chapter 18. Aaron Doyle will be leading praise and worship, and there will be special music by Sandy Werner and Amanda Doyle. We invite you to stay and fellowship with us after church services as the cafe will be open.
We invite you to Sabbath School this week. We have children's Sabbath Schools for all ages, including our cradle roll, kindergarten, primary, junior/earliteen, and youth Sabbath school classes that meet at 10:30 a.m.
Elder Rob Randall will be leading the adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans. Stop by and be blessed!
You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. If you would like to pray for our church or be prayed for, we invite you to come and share in this powerful time together.

The Missionaries Are Back!
We are so happy to have Pastor Simon and the many Place volunteers back home who went to Ecuador on the mission trip. They arrived safely last Sunday night. The trip was a success as they completed the building of a church. Lisa Kincaid was also baptized while on the trip. We will be showing the video of her baptism as well as voting her into membership this coming Sabbath.
Youth Camping Trip This Weekend
There will be a youth camping trip this coming weekend. The youth along with Pastor Steve and Daisy and the Roth family will be heading up to Lake Nacimiento for water skiing fun leaving on Friday morning and returning Sunday.
Also, please mark your calendars as there will be a new collegiate/young adult small group meeting at Pastor Steve and Daisy's house beginning August 27th. And, stay tuned for more information on new ministry programs that will be starting up after the school year is in full gear.
Mommies Ministry Spa Day This Weekend
We have a new mommy of the month for August. This month we will be showering our dearest Alisa with much love and support as her family is going through a trying time. If you would like to sign up to pamper Alisa, please contact Cecilia at cecilialiversidge@hotmail.com
And, the most anticipated day of the mommy calendar is scheduled for this Sunday. We will be having our spa day at Denise Ramirez' home in Newbury Park. Mommies will be having lunch and treatments and relaxing by the pool!!! We are soooo looking forward to this! Please contact Denise or Cecilia if you want to join in the fun.
Don't forget that there is a play date scheduled every Wednesday. The first and third Wednesday of the month we meet at The Lakes at 10 a.m. for play time at the playground and then head over to the see the show at 11:05. The second and fourth Wednesdays we meet at Conejo Community Park at 10 a.m. for playground fun and then a picnic. Please bring your little ones to have fun and play.
And, there will be trip to the Underwood Family Farms on Wednesday, August 29th from 10:30-12 noon. Please come and enjoy a morning of animal fun.
Fellowship Luncheon & Baptism Next Sabbath Afternoon
We will be having our monthly fellowship luncheon next Sabbath, August 25th following church services. This month's theme is picnic lunch. There will not be a small group host, so please bring picnic style food to share. If you would like to sign up to bring something, please contact the luncheon coordinator, Ileana Burgos at 951-961-7934.
There will also be a baptism after the luncheon for Lilia Ochoa. Please come and show your support for Lilia at Camarillo SDA Church at 3 p.m. Lilia will be baptized at Camarillo but will be joining The Place.
Beach Vespers
The next beach vespers is scheduled for Friday evening, August 31st. The vespers will begin at 6 p.m. at Sycamore Cove. Please come and have dinner, fellowship, and be blessed by time in the Word.

Got Group?
We are planning on starting new small groups and adventure groups soon. You will be hearing lots about this during the next month. If you are interested in leading out or starting something new, we will have a small group/adventure group leaders meeting next Sabbath, August 25th at 9:30 a.m.
