The Scoop at The Place - August 2, 2007
This Week At The PlaceWe look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath. This Sabbath Steve Mosley will be performing a one man drama entitled "The Bible In One Act" and Dean Palacio will be leading praise and worship.
We invite you to Sabbath School this week. We have children's Sabbath Schools for all ages, including our cradle roll, kindergarten, primary, junior/earliteen, and youth Sabbath school classes that meet at 10:30 a.m.
Elder Rob Randall will be leading the adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans. Stop by and be blessed!
You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. If you would like to pray for our church or be prayed for, we invite you to come and share in this powerful time together.

Visitor's Luncheon This Sabbath
Our monthly visitor luncheon is scheduled for this coming Sabbath afternoon, August 4th after church services. This month's hosts are Ron & Patti Fausset. We welcome all visitors and new members to attend this luncheon. Regular members are also welcome, we ask that you bring food to share. Please come to the Fausset's at 1827 Summer Cloud Drive in Thousand Oaks. Directions will be available at church this Sabbath.
Pray For Our Missionaries
As many of you know, Pastor Simon has taken 39 volunteers on a Maranatha mission trip to Ecuador. They arrived safely on Wednesday afternoon and are hard at work building a church. Please pray for the continued safety and for the holy spirit to be poured out among them and all those they have contact with. The missionaries will be arriving on Sunday night, August 12th.
Baby Shower For Alicia Adams This Sunday
There will be a baby shower for Alicia Adams this coming Sunday morning, August 5th. All ladies are invited to come and pamper Alicia with love and gifts for her baby boy. The shower will take place at Jennifer Lew's home in Newbury Park (4210 Greenwood St.) at 10:30 a.m. If you are interested in signing up to bring food or to help in any way, please contact Jennifer Lew at 805-498-0905. Beach Day Next Sunday
The Place will be having its August social next Sunday, August 12th. We will have a BEACH DAY at Zuma Beach for all of you who love to enjoy a beautiful Sunday afternoon of sun, fun, volleyball and fellowship. The Place will be providing the snacks and drinks, please pack your own lunches. We hope to see you there!!! For more information, please contact Jona at (408) 219-6003.
Youth & Collegiate Stuff
Youth Stuff:
The youth are planning a camping trip in August. Please mark your calendars for the weekend of the 17th through the 19th and stay tuned for more details!
Due to low attendance, there will no longer be gym nights on Mondays, but it will remain open on Sunday evenings from 6-8 p.m. However, please mark your calendars for our weekly bible studies on Wednesday nights. There is a youth small group bible study in the NPAA bible room from 7-8:30 p.m.
Collegiate/Young Adult Stuff:
The NPAA gym is open for basketball on Sunday nights from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
Also, every Thursday, there is an outing to go Wakeboarding. We leave from the NPAA parking lot at 5 a.m. and return at 11 a.m. If you are interested, you must reserve your spot by contacting Zac Crook at 805-551-9943.
Mommies Ministry
We have a new mommy of the month for August. This month we will be showering our dearest Alisa with much love and support as her family is going through a trying time. If you would like to sign up to pamper Alisa, please contact Cecilia at cecilialiversidge@hotmail.com
Activities for this month are:
Every Wednesday we have playdates. The first and third Wednesday of the month we meet at The Lakes at 10 a.m. for play time at the playground and then head over to the see the show at 11:05. The second and fourth Wednesdays we meet at Conejo Community Park at 10 a.m. for playground fun and then a picnic. Please bring your little ones to have fun and play. Also on the agenda is our annual "spa day" at Denise Ramirez's home in Newbury Park. Our spa day is scheduled for Sunday, August 19th. If you are interested in attending spa day, please contact Cecilia to reserve your lunch spot and Alisa to reserve your treatment of choice and time. If you haven't been to spa day yet, we highly recommend you come out and enjoy an afternoon of relaxation by the pool, a treatment (if you would like, it's not necessary), lunch, and a time of fellowship.
