The Scoop at The Place - August 23, 2007
This Week At The PlaceWe look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath. This Sabbath Pastor Simon will continue preaching on the book of John. This week's sermon is titled "The Unfinished Sermon" and focuses on chapter 19. Pastor Steve Carlson will be leading praise and worship. There will be special music by Shearin Matute and a chance for you to help Pastor Simon finish his sermon!
We invite you to Sabbath School this week. We have children's Sabbath Schools for all ages, including our cradle roll, kindergarten, primary, junior/earliteen, and youth Sabbath school classes that meet at 10:30 a.m.
Elder Rob Randall will be leading the adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans. Stop by and be blessed!
You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. If you would like to pray for our church or be prayed for, we invite you to come and share in this powerful time together.

Fellowship Luncheon and Baptism This Sabbath
We will be having our monthly fellowship luncheon this coming Sabbath, August 25th following church services. This month's theme is a picnic lunch. There will not be a small group host, so please bring picnic style food to share. If you would like to sign up to bring something, please contact the luncheon coordinator, Ileana Burgos at 951-961-7934.
There will also be a baptism after the luncheon for Lillia Ochoa. Please come and show your support for Lillia at Camarillo SDA Church at 3 p.m. This is not part of a program...it is Lillia's baptism!! Lillia will be baptized at Camarillo church by Pastor Simon, but will be joining The Place. The address is 3975 Las Posas Road. Exit the 101 North and go north on Lewis Road and turn left onto Las Posas Road.
Collegiate and Young Adult Stuff
There will be a new collegiate and young adult small group starting next Monday, August 27th at Pastor Steve and Daisy's home on campus. Please come for a night of fellowshipping and time in the Word. The bible study will meet from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Carlson's are at 205 Roth Court on the NPAA campus.
You are also invited to come and play basketball on Sunday evenings. The NPAA gym is open every Sunday from 6-8 p.m. for basketball. And, there are many more activities and opportunities to fellowship on the way! If you have ideas or would like to be involved in making things happen, please talk to Pastor Steve.
Youth Stuff
All youth are invited to attend Sabbath school class on Sabbath mornings at The Place. There will also be a Bible study and Social at The Carlson's home on Thursday evening, September 6th. Mark it in your calendars.
Beach Vespers-Next Friday Night
The next beach vespers is scheduled for next Friday evening, August 31st. The vespers will begin at 6 p.m. at Sycamore Cove. Please come and have dinner, fellowship, and be blessed by time in the Word.
Small Group and Adventure Groups Planning Meeting
We are planning on starting new small groups and adventure groups again in September. You will be hearing lots about this during the next month. If you are interested in leading out or starting something new, we will have a small group/adventure group leaders meeting this Sabbath morning, August 25th at 9:30 a.m. If you would like to be a part of a small group or adventure group, please talk to Pastor Simon. Don't miss out on these great opportunities for fellowship and sharing your faith with others.
Financial Assistance For New School Year
As the new school year approaches, we would like to announce that The Place will be reviewing applications for financial assistance for the 2007-2008 school year. If you would like to send your child to a Seventh Day Adventist School and need assistance, please pick up an application form at The Place this Sabbath or contact Pastor Simon directly. Also, if you have a desire to help support Christian education, we invite you to give towards our worthy student fund at The Place.
