The Scoop at The Place - September 20, 2007

This Week At The Place
We look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath. This Sabbath Pastor Simon will be preaching about the book of Acts, chapter 2: 41-47. This week's sermon is titled "And One..." and focuses on the power of community. Pastor Steve will be leading praise and worship and there will be special music featuring The Place's exclusive women's quartet of Robin Shea, Ileana Burgos, Amy Miller and Andrea Harlan. And, the cafe will be open after church services, we invite you to stay and enjoy the refreshments.

We invite you to Sabbath School this week. We have children's Sabbath Schools for all ages, including our cradle roll, kindergarten, primary, junior/earliteen, and youth Sabbath school classes that meet at 10:30 a.m.

Elder Rob Randall will be leading the adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans. Stop by and be blessed!

You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. If you would like to pray for our church or be prayed for, we invite you to come and share in this powerful time together.

We also invite you to continue your faithful giving. We appreciate your support so much. You may return your tithes and offerings at The Place or online. God bless.

New Small Group & Adventure Group Sign Ups-This Sabbath
We are planning on starting several new small groups and adventure groups again this month. This will give us 22 total small group or adventure groups...but, we are always looking to start more! These include new groups in Moorpark, Woodland Hills and soon in Ventura, as well as the new youth and young adult small groups hosted by Pastor Steve and Daisy. There will be a brochure this Sabbath listing all the groups and you will have an opportunity to sign up to join a small group or adventure group this coming Sabbath after church in the lobby. This is a great way to get connected in a spiritual group and to join others who enjoy doing the things you do.

If you are interested in leading out or starting something new, please contact Pastor Simon at 805-498-2300. Don't miss out on these great opportunities for fellowship and sharing your faith with others.

And, for those who like their kicks, don't forget that we have indoor soccer now EVERY Sunday at 8:00 p.m.at the NPAA gym.

Annual Church Picnic This Sunday

Our annual picnic will take place this coming Sunday, September 23rd. The picnic will be from 12-4 pm at Conejo Community Park off of Gainsborough in Thousand Oaks. We will have a jumper for kids of all ages, face painting as well as games. Sadly we do not have the baseball field this year as it is closed but they do have volleyball and basketball courts so come prepared if you would like to play.

But...we need your help! There has been a food sign up sheet in the lobby the past few weeks. If you have not yet signed up to bring food, you still have time to sign up this coming Sabbath or you can contact Jona directly. If you have any further questions, please contact Jona Cooke at 408-219-6003. Please come and enjoy the food, fun and fellowship!
