The Scoop at The Place - November 22, 2007

This Week At The Place
We want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and pray that you will have a blessed time celebrating our Lord Jesus Christ with your family and friends. We have so much to be thankful for.

This coming Sabbath Pastor Simon will continue with his series on revolutionary living. This week's sermon is titled "Order of Service" focusing on the book of Acts, chapter 6 verses 1-7. Pastor Steve will be leading praise and worship and Matt Fowler will have special music. We invite you to stay after church as the cafe will be open with refreshments and snacks.

We invite you to Sabbath School this week. We have children's Sabbath Schools for all ages, including our cradle roll, kindergarten, primary, junior/earliteen, and youth Sabbath school classes that meet at 10:30 a.m.

Elder Rob Randall will be leading the adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans. Stop by and be blessed!

You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. If you would like to pray for our church and our community or be prayed for, we invite you to come and share in this powerful time together.

We also invite you to continue your faithful giving. We appreciate your support so much. You may return your tithes and offerings at The Place or online by clicking on the link. God bless.

Community Service Projects/ Youth Car Wash This Sunday
This coming Sunday, November 25th, the youth will have a car wash community service project to help raise money for needy families in our community and at The Place. The car wash will go from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will take place at Newbury Park Academy in their parking lot. If you have any old towels that you would like to donate for this project, please bring them to church this coming Sabbath. Thank you.

Next Sabbath is December 1 already and it's the last Sabbath you'll be able to bring an unwrapped gift for the Christmas Shoppe. Thank you so much for your support which means so more than just providing gifts, it's an outreach with the love of Jesus to these families in our community. You can still sign up to be a volunteer for the event on Sabbath, Dec. 8. Contact Joyce Thomsen (805) 498-0246 or by email october5@aol.com

Baby Shower This Sunday
There will be a baby shower this Sunday for Jamie Neufeld. Jamie and her husband, Tim and their son Zack are expecting a new baby boy late December. You are invited to come and shower Jamie with love and gifts this Sunday at Cecilia's home in Thousand Oaks. The shower will be from 10:30-12:30 at 1727 E. Calle Artigas. Jamie is registered at Babies R Us.

Friday Night Vespers-Next Week
You are invited to come to our Friday night vespers and meditation time scheduled for next Friday, November 30th. The vespers will begin at 7:30 p.m. at The Place. In addition to the praise and worship, we will have guest speaker Hue Fortson. Mr. Fortson is a former member of the People's Temple and will share his testimony of how he became a member of and survived Jim Jones' cult (the cult in which 900 members died in Guyana in 1978). Please come and share in this powerful time together.
