The Scoop at The Place - November 8, 2007
This Week At The PlaceWe trust that you are having a blessed week in Christ and that you are ready for another wonderful Sabbath. This coming Sabbath Pastor Simon will continue with the fifth in his series on Revolutionary Living. This week's sermon is titled "The Power of Ten...Days" which focuses on the book of Daniel, chapter 1. Special musical guest Hilary Watson will be leading praise and worship as well as sharing some of her music. And we invite you to stay after church for snacks and refreshments as our cafe will be open.
Children's church is also scheduled for this Sabbath starting at 11:30 in the fellowship hall. This month's leader is Jennifer Lew.
We invite you to Sabbath School this week. We have children's Sabbath Schools for all ages, including our cradle roll, kindergarten, primary, junior/earliteen, and youth Sabbath school classes that meet at 10:30 a.m.
Elder Rob Randall will be leading the adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans. Stop by and be blessed!
You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. If you would like to pray for our church and our community or be prayed for, we invite you to come and share in this powerful time together.
Special Musical Guest This Sabbath
Special musical guest Hilary Watson will be leading worship and performing a few songs as part of our worship service this coming Sabbath. Hilary has just released her debut album entitled "Passing By." You can check her out at hilarywatson.net. Hilary is a professional musician who is currently performing on a tour of Southern California...but mostly she is a young woman in love with Jesus. We invite you to come and worship with us this Sabbath as we are blessed by her worship leading and music.
Volleyball This Saturday Night
There will be a volleyball game night this Saturday night at the NPAA gymnasium. All are invited to come and play some ball. The fun will start at 7 p.m. We hope to see you there!
Fellowship Luncheon Next Sabbath
Our monthly fellowship luncheon is scheduled for next Sabbath, November 17th. We invite you to stay after church for fellowship as well as a Mexican themed lunch. This month's coordinators are Meaghan Quilop and Ileana Burgos. We need your help to make this a success, so we invite you to please bring some Mexican food to share if possible...thanks! Community Service-Christmas Shoppe
As you start to think about your gift giving for Christmas, please keep in mind the Community Christmas Shoppe. We need new clothing items and toys for children from infant to teen. And, by volunteering for the day of the event (Dec. 9th.), you can take an active part in this awesome outreach ministry. Youth, Young Adult & Collegiate Stuff
Youth:
Thursdays: Small group bible study @ The Carlson's starting at 7 pm.

We are also planning a car wash on Sunday, November 25th to raise money to assist needy families in the area. If you're interested in helping out in any way, please contact Pastor Steve.
Young Adults:
THIS Friday, November 9th: Homeless Outreach Ministry meet at church at 7pm. Please bring blankets, jackets, Bibles, or money to help the young adults in their street ministry in the valley. Sundays: Basketball at the NPAA gym from 6-8 pm
Tuesday, November 13th, the small group Bible study will not meet at The Carlson's, but instead will be going to hear Rob Bell speak in Los Angeles. The small group will reconvene next week at its regularly scheduled time and place.
Saturday night, November 17th: Movie & game night @ The Carlson's @ 7pm. 205 Roth Court on the NPAA campus.
Financial Update October
In October we received $9,183 in tithes (to the Southern California Conference) for a total of $146,457 for 2007. We also received $10,858 towards our local church budget, and about $1,700 towards other local church ministries. That gives us a total of $109,921 for our local church budget for 2007, with about another $40,000 given to other specific Place ministries. Thanks so much for your support.
We invite you to continue your faithful giving and we continue to be in URGENT need of more financial donations for our worthy student fund. If you would like to donate to this fund, please specify the amount on your tithe envelope. You may return tithes and offerings at The Place or on-line by clicking on the link. God bless.
Mommies Ministry

Tuesday, November 13th: Play date at the park located at the corner of Wendy and Kimber (behind the church). Please meet at 10:30 a.m.
Friday, November 16th: Thanksgiving celebration for the little ones at Sarah Volland's home in Newbury Park @3 p.m. Please sign up to bring a snack with Cecilia at cecilialiversidge@hotmail.com. There will be a meal, brief Thanksgiving video, and craft.
Wednesday, November 21st: Field trip to Jungle Land located at 30315 Canwood Street in Agoura Hills. The entrance fee is $8 per child. Please meet at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, November 27th: Play date at the park located at the corner of Wendy & Kimber. Please meet at 10 a.m.
Thursday, November 29th: Girl's Night Out to P.F. Chang's @The Lakes @6:30 p.m. Please confirm your spot with Cecilia.
