The Scoop at The Place - December 13, 2007

This Week At The Place/New Online Giving!
We look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath.

This week Pastor Simon will be preaching at The Place. This week's sermon is titled "Wise Men Still Seek Him" as we are in the midst of celebrating the Christmas season. Pastor Simon's sermon is over the book of Matthew chapter 2, verses 1-12. Dean Palacio will be leading praise and worship.

We invite you to Sabbath School this week. We have children's Sabbath Schools for all ages, including our cradle roll, kindergarten, primary, junior/earliteen, and youth Sabbath school classes that meet at 10:30 a.m. If you have any old DVD's or CD's that you would like to donate to our newly forming children's media library, we would be very appreciative! The media library would give children an opportunity to view and/or listen to different movies and music and then return them for other ones. Please contact Lilian Alves @310-948-6476.

Elder Rob Randall will be leading the adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans. Stop by and be blessed!

You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. If you would like to pray for our church and our community or if you would like to be prayed for, we invite you to come and share in this powerful time together.

We also invite you to continue your faithful giving. We appreciate your support so much. We are now using a new online donation program through Adventistgiving.org. This new program does NOT CHARGE any fee for us...so, please feel free to return your donations online to The Place with no guilt!! You may return your tithes and offerings online by clicking on the link (or, of course, at The Place.)

In November we received $11,850 in tithe, giving us a total of $160,727 for the year. We also received $11,736 in giving towards The Place, for a total of about $164,000 for the year. Thanks so much for your support! God bless.

Thanks for your cooperation. Please stay and share in this time of joy together!

Friday Night Communion & Vespers-Next Week
We will be having our monthly vespers next Friday night, December 21st at The Place. It will be a special night as we will be celebrating Christmas together. We will have a band leading praise with Christmas carols, a time of worship, and communion. Refreshments and snacks will also be served after services. We look forward to seeing you!

Community Service Projects
The Community Christmas Shoppe last Sabbath was a big success. We helped serve approximately 240 families in need through this event. It was a fun filled day with lots of activities for the kids as the parents shopped for their presents. Thanks to everyone who contributed toys and clothing items. A big thank you to the amazing volunteers who sponsored collection boxes, helped with the set up and the event itself. It was truly a blessing to be part of this community outreach as we reached out in love and service.
