The Scoop at The Place - April 10, 2008
This Week At The PlaceWe look forward to seeing you this coming Sabbath. This Sabbath Pastor Simon will be preaching over the story of Joseph. This week's sermon is titled "And Justice For All" and focuses on Genesis 47. This week Steve Jackson will be leading praise and worship. We will also have a baby dedication for little Dillon Neufeld, son of Tim and Jaime Neufeld. We invite you to stay after church services as our cafe will be open with refreshments and snacks.
We invite you to attend Sabbath School this week. We have children's Sabbath Schools for all ages, including our cradle roll, kindergarten, primary, junior/earliteen, and youth Sabbath school classes that meet at 10:30 a.m. Elder Rob Randall will be leading the adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans. Stop by and be blessed!
You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. If you would like to pray for our church and our community or if you would like to be prayed for, we invite you to come and share in this powerful time together.
And, we invite you to support the ministry of The Place financially. You may return your tithes and offering donations online to The Place by clicking on the link (or, of course, at The Place.) Thanks so much for your support! God bless.

Church Camping Trip & Mission Trip To Chile
Mark your calendars as we will have the the first annual Place Camping Trip to Carpinteria State Beach the weekend of May 9-11th. We have two group camp sites and we invite everyone to come! You may sign up this Sabbath or with Pastor Simon!! This is a WHOLE church camping trip. We will not be having church at The Place that Sabbath, but will be having church at the camp site on the beach!
We are planning our annual mission trip for this August and there is still ROOM for you! This year we are building a church outside the town of San Felipe, about 50 miles north of Santiago in Chile, from August 6-18. We have made plane reservations…and need to give a $100 deposit for each seat. If you have signed up and are planning on going on the mission trip, please get your deposit to Pastor Simon to reserve your place...or sign up on the sign up sheet in the lobby. Write your check to The Place, but please let Pastor Simon know you are coming!!
Get Involved in Ministry!
The Place is starting its annual nominating committee process. Even though it doesn't sound like the most fun thing around, it is actually a pretty cool thing as we attempt to give everyone an opportunity to be involved in ministry at The Place. This ministry can take many forms...from small groups to leading bible studies; from setting up chairs to preparing food for our cafe; and from helping with audio-visual to teaching Sabbath School. Whatever you are interested in, there is a place for you! This Sabbath we will have ministry interest sheets for you to fill to indicate areas of ministry you are interested in...or you would like training in. We are the body of Christ and we need all the parts to work well together. Get involved!

I've heard this is an absolutely beautiful hotel, it should be a wonderful time. If you would like to go, please let me (Cecilia) know by Wednesday, April 30th so that I can give them a final head count. Thanks and I hope to see you there.
