The Scoop at The Place - June 19, 2008
This Week At The PlaceWe look forward to seeing you this coming Sabbath at The Place. This Sabbath Pastor Simon will continue with the fifth sermon in his new series on a "summer fling with Jesus." His sermon is titled "Are We Dating?" which focuses on Luke 5:1-11. Dean Palacio will be leading worship.
We invite you to come before church services and attend one of our many Sabbath School classes. We have cradle roll, kindergarten, primary, junior/earliteen, youth and adult Sabbath school classes that meet every Sabbath morning beginning at 10:30 a.m. The adult Sabbath school class is lead by Elder Rob Randall and meets in the main sanctuary.
Also, if you have specific prayer requests, our prayer team would love the opportunity to lift you and your prayer requests up to God. Our prayer team meets each Sabbath at 9:45 a.m. to pray for our church and for special requests. We would love for you to join us in prayer in the junior/earliteen room. God bless.
We also invite your continued financial support of the ministry of The Place. You may continue to return your tithes and offerings on-line at www.theplacechurch.com or by clicking on the link. We realize that life is difficult for many of our members, and want to let you know we are praying for you. We believe God will continue to bless you in your faithfulness!

Chile Mission Trip Fund Raising
We are planning our annual mission trip for this August and there is still ROOM for you! This year we are building a church outside the town of San Felipe, about 50 miles north of Santiago in Chile, from August 6-18.
But, we need your help with the costs! Here are a few fundraising ideas we need your support with:
Building our "Lego Church". This church represents the one we are building in Chile...and we need your support. We invite you to buy a brick or several bricks...each brick is $1 and we have 3,000 bricks to sell. These bricks will be available in the lobby.
Garage Sale:
Don't forget to bring any items you may have for the garage sale each Sabbath for Donna Goldman. Our Garage Sale Fund Raiser is tentatively scheduled for the 19th of July and Donna will be accepting donations until then. However, Donna's truck is currently in the shop, so we are in need of someone who has a truck that would be able to pick up large items to be sold at the sale. If you are able to help, please contact Donna or Pastor Simon. You can reach Donna @ 805/407-9535 or Pastor Simon @ 805/498-2300.

ALL OF THE MONIES FROM THIS LUNCHEON WILL GO TO US. Please sign up and invite your friends and neighbors...it is a great chance to support the mission of The Place and invite your friends to get to know us!

We are also selling tickets for a chance to win any one of a number of wonderful gifts we have had donated. We can always use more gifts. If you have a favorite restaurant or any type of business you frequent please ask if they would be willing to donate items or gift certificates.
Nominating Committee/ New Ministries
We would like to thank the Nominating Committee for their hard work during the past few months. Now, their work is complete, and many of you have volunteered to lead or participate in various ministries at The Place and in our community. Thanks so much for your willingness to be part of our ministry! If you would like to be involved, but are not doing so currently, please talk to Pastor Simon.
We continue to have many weekly small groups and adventure groups as part of our ministry. If you are interested in being part of one of these communities, please let us know as well.
