The Scoop at The Place - June 5, 2008
This Week At The PlaceWe look forward to seeing you this coming Sabbath at The Place. This Sabbath Pastor Simon will continue his summer series on "A summer fling with Jesus" with the second sermon titled "Seeing The Boy Next Door With New Eyes" which focuses on John 8:1-11. Chad Reisser will be leading worship and there will be special music by Giovanna Alves. We will also be welcoming Julie McHugh and her daughter Alexis into membership following their baptism on Wednesday.
We invite you to come before church services and attend one of our many Sabbath School classes. We have cradle roll, kindergarten, primary, junior/earliteen, youth and adult Sabbath school classes that meet every Sabbath morning beginning at 10:30 a.m. The adult Sabbath school class is lead by Elder Rob Randall and meets in the main sanctuary.
We also invite your continued financial support of the ministry of The Place. You may continue to return your tithes and offerings on-line at www.theplacechurch.com or by clicking on the link. We realize that life is difficult for many of our members, and want to let you know we are praying for you. We believe God will continue to bless you in your faithfulness!
Also, if you have specific prayer requests, our prayer team would love the opportunity to lift you and your prayer requests up to God. Our prayer team meets each Sabbath at 9:45 a.m. to pray for our church and for special requests. We would love for you to join us in prayer in the junior/earliteen room. God bless.
The Nominating Committee is finishing their work for all the various ministries at The Place. We will have a tentative report this Sabbath at The Place. We invite you to go over it and make sure you are signed up in the right places. Or if you would like to be involved in any area, we would love to hear from you!

Community Services
A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who participated in our TAKIN’ IT TO THE STREETS weekend service projects. The women’s shelter was thrilled to have our youth paint their fence. The residents and staff at the nursing home thoroughly enjoyed our visit and fun activities – especially having the children involved. And CAES is a lot more beautiful with all the landscaping we put in. It was a lot of hard work—and everyone worked really hard!

Chile Mission Trip Fundraising
We are planning our annual mission trip for this August and there is still ROOM for you! This year we are building a church outside the town of San Felipe, about 50 miles north of Santiago in Chile, from August 6-18. We have made plane reservations…and need to give a $100 deposit for each seat. Due to higher airline costs the total cost for the trip is around $1600. But, we are going to be fundraising as a church to help cover those costs. We need a few more people to come and help us accomplish our project. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Pastor Simon. Here are some of the fundraising ideas we need your support with:
Building our "Lego Church". This church represents the one we are building in Chile...and we need your support. We invite you to buy a brick or several bricks...each brick is $1 and we have 3,000 bricks to sell. These bricks will be available in the lobby.
Garage Sale:
Don't forget to bring any items you may have for the garage sale each Sabbath for Donna Goldman. She is also willing to pick-up if needed. Her contact number is 805/407-9535
Donna will be out of town May 31st. She is collecting through June 15th.
Outback Luncheon June 29th:

Gift Raffle:
Very soon we will be selling tickets for a chance to win any one of a number of wonderful gifts we have had donated. We can always use more gifts. If you have a favorite restaurant or any type of business you frequent please ask if they would be willing to donate items or gift certificates.
