The Scoop at The Place - July 17, 2008
This Week At The PlaceWe look forward to worshiping with you this coming Sabbath. Pastor Simon will be preaching continue his summer fling series- and will focus on Luke 7:36-50 with a sermon titled, "Who's Cheating On Who?" Pastor Steve will be leading us in worship, and Donna Pullen will have a children's story.
We also invite you to Sabbath school starting at 10:30 a.m. We have several classes ranging from cradle roll class to adult classes. We have something for everyone! We hope you’ll stop by and be blessed.
Our prayer committee meets every Sabbath morning starting at 9:45 a.m. to pray for individual as well as community needs. If you are interested, please join us this Sabbath.

Fellowship Luncheon-This Sabbath
We will have our monthly fellowship luncheon this coming Sabbath. Please join us after church services for the delicious food and fellowship. This month's theme is general, so anything you bring would be GREATLY appreciated. If you are able to help with the set up or clean up, that would also be appreciated. We hope to see you!
Youth & Young Adult Stuff
Youth: PARTY This Saturday Night!
Wednesday youth bible study @ 7 p.m. @ NPAA bible room.
Saturday Sabbath school class @10:30 at the Place.
Saturday, July 19 - youth house party at Gaines' home in Simi Valley. There will be a vespers @ 7:30 p.m.followed by a party with swimming, games, and a movie. If you need transportation there, please meet @ NPAA @ 7pm. The party will be ending around 11pm.
August 9th - youth social (details to come).
Weekend of Aug. 15-17th Wakeboarding trip to Lake Nacimiento. If you are interested in coming, please contact Pastor Steve as soon as possible to reserve your spot.
Young Adults: BEACH VESPERS THIS FRIDAY
Tuesday small group @ 7:30 p.m.
THIS Friday night, July 18th - Young adult beach vespers / Sycamore Cove @ 6:30. There will be hotdogs
and worship.
Sunday, July 27th - Catalina day trip (details to come).
Sunday, Aug 10th - Aquarium of the Pacific (details to come).
Mission Trip Information - Need help with Garage Sale this Sunday
Our mission trip to Chile is just around the corner and we are working hard to raise money for the trip. We still have a few more events left. If you can help with the garage sale this Sunday, please contact Donna Goldman.
Lego church:
Each Sabbath we continue building our "Lego Church" representing the church we are building in Chile. We invite you to buy a brick or several bricks in the lobby after church...each brick is $1.
Garage Sale:
Don't forget to bring any items you may have for the garage sale Donna Goldman will have. She is willing to pick-up if needed. Her contact number is 805/407-9535. She is collecting through July 19th. We need help THIS Sunday at 6 a.m. to put out garage sale stuff. The sale is scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. We also need someone with a truck to pick-up items before hand. Thanks so much .
Gift Raffle:
We are selling tickets for a chance to win many wonderful gifts we have had donated. If you have a favorite restaurant or any type of business you frequent please ask if they would be willing to donate items or gift certificates.
PRESTO PASTA this TUESDAY. There will be another fundraiser opportunity this coming week. This time, the fundraiser will take place at Presto Pasta in Camarillo & Newbury Park. Please eat at Presto Pasta in Camarillo or Newbury Park on Tuesday, July 22, 2008. Please be sure to mention the Chile Mission Trip (or take flyer) when placing order.

Mercy Me Concert & Social
We are planning a trip to the Mercy Me concert next Friday, July 25th at the Santa Barbara Bowl. This is your last chance to get tickets, it will be a great concert. If you are interested, please contact Dawn Lyman at dawnlyman@gmail.com.
And, get your calendars out, as there will be a Game Night on Saturday evening, August 9th @ Donna Pullen/Robin Fosler's (Atmore) home in Camarillo. More details to come but it will include sundown worship, snacks and games.
Community Service Meeting This Sabbath
There will be a community service meeting this Sabbath at 9:30 a.m. This will be the first meeting of this year. If you are interested in participating or knowing more, please come join us. If you are interested in other areas of ministry, please log on to find out more about our new ministries, small groups, and adventure groups at www.theplacechurch.com We are starting several new ministries in the next few weeks, but always are looking for those who have the desire to be part of or start a small group, adventure group or other ministry.
Hospital Ministry
Our Hospital Ministry is planning another outing to a nearby hospital to sing to patients. It will be one of the next two Sabbaths. We will let you know as soon as it is certain.
