The Scoop at The Place - September 18, 2008
This Week At The PlaceWe look forward to seeing you this coming Sabbath at The Place. This Sabbath Pastor Simon will be going over at Acts 4:23-37 as he focuses on the unity of community. Pastor Steve will be leading worship and we will also have an opportunity to hear from various small group members about the power of small group communities. We will also be giving anyone who wishes the possibility of committing to spend some of The Place's money for investment in our community!
We also invite you to Sabbath school starting at 10:30 a.m. We have several classes ranging from cradle roll class to adult classes. We have something for everyone! We hope you’ll stop by and be blessed.
Our prayer committee meets every Sabbath morning starting at 9:45 a.m. to pray for individual as well as community needs. If you are interested, please join us this Sabbath.
And, your tithes and offerings are always a blessing. We thank you for your faithfulness in giving. You can return your tithes and offerings at The Place or by clicking on the link provided.

We encourage all of you to continue to pray for Steve Jackson. Steve is paralyzed from the nose down but is in stable condition. He has been moved to Kindred Hospital in Los Angeles (5525 W. Slauson Ave. in Los Angeles)and would love to have visitors. Our goal is to have a visitor visit him each day. Also, since all of his family has now traveled back to the east coast, if anyone has any extra miles they would like to donate so that his family can visit him periodically, please contact Pastor Simon.

This is a great community outreach opportunity for families with kids of all ages--everyone is welcome. Please see the back table for details and a sign up sheet. Urgent Prayer Request from Good News India
(This is a synthesis of a letter sent this week - your prayers are needed.) Dear beloved sponsors and friends of Good News India:
We knew that Orissa was the most resistant and hostile State in India as far as the Gospel is concerned. It seems to be totally under the radar of the Western Media.A militant Hindu priest and 4 of his attendants, who were zealously going around the villages of Orissa and "reconverting" people back to Hinduism, were gunned down by unknown assailants in Central Orissa last weekend. Immediately the Christians were blamed. The horror began. In the past 4 days, we have first hand witness to hundreds of churches being blown up or burned and many, many dozens of Christian tribals have been slaughtered. For no other reason than they bear the name of Christ. Please pray fervently for Orissa and for the spirit of Christ to rule.
