The Scoop at The Place - September 25, 2008
This Week At The PlaceWe look forward to seeing you this coming Sabbath at The Place. This Sabbath Pastor Simon will begin a new series called "Don't Worry, Be Happy" or "How To Live When Your Father Owns It All." This week we will focus on the scripture found in Psalm 50:7-12 and Michael Brown will be leading us in worship. Robin Shea and Ken Adams will also have a special music for us.
We invite you to stay after services as the cafe will be open with snacks and refreshments.
We also invite you to Sabbath school starting at 10:30 a.m. We have several classes ranging from cradle roll class to adult classes. We have something for everyone! We hope you’ll stop by and be blessed.
Our prayer committee meets every Sabbath morning starting at 9:45 a.m. to pray for individual as well as community needs. If you are interested, please join us this Sabbath.
And, your tithes and offerings are always a blessing. We thank you for your faithfulness in giving. You can return your tithes and offerings at The Place or by clicking on the link provided.

Update On Steve Jackson - URGENT PRAYER NEEDED
We encourage all of you to continue to pray for Steve Jackson. Steve has regained movement in his face! He can even move his neck and his heart is working well and he is breathing on his own. That is really good news. The bad news is his kidneys don't work at all. His family is coming out again THIS SABBATH to decide whether or not to keep him on kidney dialysis. He needs this to live. Our prayers for him to regain the movement in his face have been answered, but we need to pray urgently for his kidneys...he needs God to renew his kidneys! He remains paralyzed from the neck down...but, God is healing him! Steve is in Kindred Hospital in Los Angeles (5525 W. Slauson Ave.)and would love to have visitors. Our goal is to have a visitor visit him each day. He is alert much of the time! Please contact Pastor Simon with any questions.
New Adult Sabbath School Starting This Sabbath
We are starting a new adult Sabbath School class this Sabbath, September 27. Elder David Smith will lead the class. The class will use the Discover Bible School material and focus on new believers and those wishing to refresh on Christian doctrines and teachings. We are excited about this new class. It will also meet in the main sanctuary.
Community Services
On Sabbath, October 11th, we will be hosting an afternoon of fun at the Thousand Oaks Health Care Center from 2-4PM. We will enjoy time together as we visit and entertain the residents of this senior care facility. This is a great community outreach opportunity for families with kids of all ages--everyone is welcome. Please see the back table for details and a sign up sheet. If you have any questions, please call Joyce Thomsen at 805 377-8892.
Student needs room
We have a young man who is a sophomore in high school in the area who would like to go to NPAA. He is too far to commute every day, but does not have the resources to pay for the dorm. If you would be willing to host him from Monday-Thursday nights, please call Pastor Simon.
