Mission Projects
Chile 2008
We are planning our annual mission trip for this August and there is still ROOM for you! This year we are building a church outside the town of San Felipe, about 50 miles north of Santiago in Chile, from August 6-18. We have made plane reservations…and need to give a $100 deposit for each seat. If you have signed up and are planning on going on the mission trip, please get your deposit to Pastor Simon to reserve your place...or sign up on the sign up sheet in the lobby. Write your check to The Place, but please let Pastor Simon know you are coming!!
Ecuador 2007
We built a church in Chapulo, Ecuador, about 1.5 hours north of Guayaquil. Check out photos from this amazing trip or hang on for the slideshow to load . . . .
Mexico 2006
We fulfilled our commitment to build a church this summer in Tijuana, Baja, California. This was another Maranatha project such as we experienced summer 2005 in Peru (see below).
Peru 2005
In 2005, members of The Place travelled to to Puerto Maldonado, Peru from July 26 through August 8th through Maranatha. This time was a huge blessing for many in the Peruvian community. However, it was also a HUGE blessing for all the missionaries who attend.
Our missionaries stayed for a week at the site building a big mission center. After the project was over, many of the volunteers travelled to Machu Pichu for a few days.

A Little Yarn
As a church, we're always looking for ways to bless our community. One of our members, Rachelle LeMond, has a ministry of making "chemo caps" for kids going through chemotherapy. Her own son had a four-year battle with leukemia and she has a heart for other kids like him. If you would like to donate yarn to this ministry or have other questions, send Rachelle an email.
Project Linus
We have participated in a homemade blanket drive in support of seriously ill children in Ventura County. We're working with Project Linus, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gift of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers." If you would like to participate by making a blanket, please let us know. The blankets must be washable.
Ventura County Foodshare
Food Share in Oxnard is serving as a collection point for corn flour, dry beans, rice, diapers and financial donations. Financial donations are the most helpful, as Food Share can buy at bulk at huge discounts. We collect food at church once a month, but you may make financial donations at any time, either online or by simply writing a check at The Place. Please mark your check "emergency farm worker assistance Ventura County." Thanks for your Godly response.
15-Hands Rescue Sanctuary
On August 14, 2005, members of The Place helped paint a barn at Ventura Farms in Hidden Valley. They were helping the 15-Hands Rescue Sanctuary, which gives underpriveleged kids an opportunity to ride and interact with horses.

Beach Vespers
Warm weather means beach vespers at The Place! Usually starting
the end of April and ending in September, we have our vespers in the sand
and surf,
starting at 6 p.m. Please plan on coming out to Sycamore Cove to enjoy
a beautiful night of worship underneath the stars. And, don't worry about being
late - we will still be there!
Directions to the cove are: Take 101 North and exit at Las Posas - go west until you hit PCH. Go south about 5 miles and Sycamore Cove is on the BEACH SIDE (not the camp ground.) We will eat together and share a great time with one another and with God.
Game Night and Socials
Come join us for fun and fellowship when we come together.
In the past year, we've had game nights, bunko parties, potluck lunches,
Super Bowl parties,
and softball league, and gone to baseball games and concerts, including
Third Day and the Hollywood Bowl for 4th of July fireworks!
