The Scoop at The Place - June 4, 2009
This Week at The PlaceWe invite you to The Place this Sabbath as we will be celebrating Sabbath together. This week Pastor Simon will continue his series on Meeting Jesus with his sermon titled "Jesus The Builder" that will focus on Matthew 7. We look forward to having Randall Goulard lead us in praise and worship.
We invite you to Sabbath School this Sabbath at 10:30 a.m. We have classes for all ages...from Cradle Roll, Kindergarten, Primary, Junior/Earliteen, Youth, Collegiate/Young Adult and an Adult class with Rob Randall leading.
Also, we invite you to come and pray or be prayed over each Sabbath at 9:45 a.m. in the Sabbath School wing. Our prayers are powerful!
Visitor Luncheon This Sabbath
We invite our visitors and new members to our visitor luncheon this Sabbath, June 6th following church services. This month's hosts are Deane and Elvina Wolcott. This luncheon is for intended for visitors and new members to become better acquainted with other members of the Place. Of course, all members are welcome and are invited, we just ask that you bring food to share. The Wolcott's are located at 3216 Casino Drive in Thousand Oaks. 805-492-7180.
Taking It To The Streets Community Service This Sabbath & Sunday
This Sabbath we will meet at TO Health Care Nursing Home at 2:00 PM. The address is 93 W. Avenida De Los Arboles in T.O. It’s a fun afternoon patio party with lots of activities to choose from as we socialize with the seniors.
Sunday, June 7, 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. meet at Tender Life Maternity Home in Ventura. The address is 871 E. Thompson Blvd. Bring your work gloves and tools for outside yard and house maintenance. We plan on having a great time as we work together in service to others. Please pray that we will have a positive impact on those we will be serving as we demonstrate God’s love through service.
Also, Tender Life could use some outside/patio furniture if you have some to donate.
Beach Vespers Next Friday
Our next beach vespers is scheduled for next Friday evening, June 12th. We will meet at our usual venue of Sycamore Cove at 6 p.m. A hot dog dinner and snacks will be provided as well as worship. Join us for a beautiful night of fellowship and bring a dish to share if you are able.

Fiji Mission Trip
Our mission trip this year is in Fiji from July 14-28. The tickets have been purchased. We ask for your prayers for the 35 volunteers who will be going. Also, if you would like to help support some of our young people financially, please feel free to mark your tithe envelope, "Fiji Mission." Thanks for your prayers and support. Also, the people at our SDA high school in Lautoka, Fiji where we are going to be working on the boys and girls dorms have some requests...they NEED: used laptops; any kind of chairs - plastic, folding, etc.; refrigerators; tools of any kind (if electric, however, must be 240 volt!) There will be a container shipped June 26 to Fiji. So, if you can donate any of these items, please contact Pastor Simon asap.
Also, Solomon Faka and his family are moving back to Australia in July. They have some electronics they need to sell before they go...and will DONATE ALL THE PROCEEDS to our Fiji Mission!! So, if you are interested in the following, please give Solomon a call at 310-498-554. All reasonable offers welcome:
1. Large Whirlpool split refrigerator and in excellent condition
2. Large LG washing machine in very good condition
3. Large LG dryer; gas or electric option and in very good condition
4. Sharp microwave oven in excellent condition
5. Sony desktop computer in good condition (TV tuner, widows media player). Can be used as second TV in the home.
6. Printers (One Epson stylus CX9400Fax and one hp)
7. Electrolux vacuum machine in excellent condition
8. Toaster, electric fan, 3 electric irons, broadband wireless routers and a cd player
9. 5 disc RCN sound system in excellent condition.
New Class on Doctrine/Baptismal Class
Pastor Simon is starting a new class the beginning of June. The class will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Sabbath mornings throughout the summer. He will be exploring Christian doctrine. If you are interested in preparing for baptism or simply want to know more about what the Bible teaches, we invite you to sign up this Sabbath.

We have a new officer year starting on July 1st and would love to have you involved in any kind of ministry you are interested in. There will be bulletin insert this Sabbath with all the ministries we have at The Place and invite you you to be a part of one of our wonderful ministries, or you may contact Pastor Simon at 805-498-2300.
July 4th Concert at Hollywood Bowl
Summer is around the corner and that means that we will be once again attending the Hollywood Bowl's Fireworks Spectacular on 4th of July as a group. Tickets have been purchased for Saturday evening's (7/4) performance featuring John Fogerty beginning at 7:30 p.m. Adult ticket prices are $20, children 2-12 are $10. Please sign up at The Place if you are interested in going or contact Pastor Simon.
VBS this Summer
We are excited to be hosting Vacation Bible School this summer, July 20-24th from 6-8 p.m. It will be at CAES and will be the Crocodile Cafe theme. Debbie Moon, Jona Cooke and Jennifer Lew will be leading out, but need lots of help. Please talk to one of them if you are interested.
Doctrinal/Baptismal Class Starts next Sabbath
Pastor Simon is starting a new class on Sabbath, June 13. The class will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Sabbath mornings throughout the summer. He will be exploring Christian doctrine. If you are interested in preparing for baptism or simply want to know more about what the Bible teaches, we invite you to sign up this Sabbath.
Bowling - June 20th
We will be bowling on Sat. Nt., June 20th, at Harley's Bowl in Simi Valley at 7:30 p.m. Cost is only $5 per person!
Youth
* Wednesday night weekly youth group @ 7:00 p.m. @ Pastor Steve's house starting June 17th.
* Sabbath school every Sabbath morning @ 10:30 a.m.
* Sunday, June 14th - Hurricane Harbor. The cost is $25 per/person. please let Pastor Steve know as soon as possible if you would like to join us. Space is limited, so sign up TODAY =-)
* Friday, June 26th - details to come.
* August 7-9 - Lake Nacimiento Water Ski Trip. Details to come, but mark your calendars. It just keeps getting better and better.
