This week Pastor Simon will continue preaching over his new series on discipleship. This week's sermon is titled "Four Days To See" and focuses on John chapter 1:19-51. Before the sermon we will be having a brief time of "show and tell" with Ardis Baker. We ask that moms or dads ask their children to bring something they would like to show and tell about. We will also have a musical response by the Newburians, a special choir from NPAA. We invite you to Sabbath School this week. Our Sabbath School classes meet at 10:30 a.m. Rob Randall will be leading the general adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans. We also have the "Little Place" with Sabbath School classes for infants and toddlers, kindergarten aged children, earliteen classes, and youth sabbath school. Stop by and be blessed! You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. Come and pray for our church or bring your special needs. Beach Vespers- This Sabbath Afternoon We will be having our last beach vespers for 2006 this coming Sabbath afternoon. Please join us at our usual spot in Sycamore Cove at 5 p.m. Sycamore Cove is 5 miles south of Las Posas Road, on Pacific Coast Highway. We will be eat, worship, and enjoy a beautiful sunset together. This is a great opportunity to fellowship with one another and our God. If you would like to bring some food to share, please feel free, but you don't need to! But, please come and invite a friend! Women's Shelter - This Sunday! We will be working on the Women's Shelter this coming Sunday morning. This is a shelter for battered women in the camarillo/oxnard area. We will be painting and planting and getting it ready for families to move in! You provide the elbow grease and they'll provide the food! All visitors and new members are encouraged to stop by for lunch and get to know some of the other members of The Place. Please bring some food to share...we hope to see you there! This week's luncheon will be held at Rodney & Cindy Andregg's home but will be hosted by Rodney & Lilian Alves & Ken & Amy Miller. The Andregg's are located at 132 Cindy Ave in Newbury Park. Discipleship Class-Last Week to Join Are you ready for the "adventure of your life". Learn how to be a disciple of Jesus and get ready to lead an "adventure group" of your own (if you are willing). Our new discipleship training classes have begun and we want you to be a part of it! Please join us this coming Sabbath at 9:45 a.m. for a 10 week small group led by Pastor Simon that will focus on spiritual maturity that leads us into the adventure of ministry. Please note that this is the last day to join the class. If Sabbath mornings do not work for you then please join us on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. for the same class. Volleyball Night -October 7th Our next family volleyball night is scheduled for Saturday evening, October 7th. You, your family, and your friends are invited to come to the NPAA gym and play volleyball or just spend time with together. The fun will start at 7 p.m. Michael W. Smith Concert & Fall Fest Coming in October! We have purchased tickets for the Michael W. Smith concert coming up in October. Michael will be in concert at Calvary church in Westlake on Saturday night, the 14th of October. Tickets are $22 each. For more information, contact Sherry Jackson at 805-405-4283. And-coming up on Saturday night, October 28th is our annual Fall Fest. This year's celebration will be held in the NPAA cafeteria starting at 6:30 p.m. Please come dressed in your favorite retro gear as this year's theme will be the 70's. We will have a pumpkin carving contest as well as karaoke for kids of all ages. Our dinner menu will be soups, cornbread, and dessert. You can sign up to bring food starting this Sabbath. Youth Announcement The Newbury Park Academy youth will be participating in a 30 hour famine October 5th through 6th to raise money for third world countries. This Week At The Place

Due to the fact that the battered women's shelter still needs to do a little more prep work, we will be going to the shelter next Sunday, Oct. 1, instead of this Sunday. For more information, contact Sherry Jackson at 805-405-4283. Ecuador Mission Trip Sign-ups We are already getting ready for our next mission project. Our church has committed to build a church in Ecuador late July/early August of 2007. If you are interested in going on next year's mission trip, you can sign up this week at church or by contacting Pastor Simon. Mommies Ministry Our mommies, daddies, and children had a wonderful time last Sabbath hiking. We hope to see more of you in the future! We have one more mommy activity planned for this month. Our monthly "Girl's Night Out" is scheduled for the last Thursday of the month, the 28th of September. All mommies are invited to Alisa Kalberg's home for a game night, snacks, dessert, and hot drinks. We hope that you will be able to make it...the fun will start at 6:30 p.m. NPAA 3rd Annual Cookbook Fundraiser NPAA is putting on their 3rd annual cookbook fundraiser so that students can earn their own scholarships. On July 9th two of our dear members Michael Peabody and Danielle Martinez were wed in Malibu. Unfortunately, we were never able to give them a wedding shower as they live in Sacramento. However, we will be taking donations so that we can present them with a gift certificate from the members of The Place. Michael and Danielle will be visiting us on Sabbath, October 7th. This Week At The Place We look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath. This week Pastor Simon will conclude his series on Jonah. This week's sermon is titled "The Questions Of God" and focuses on chapter 4 of Jonah. There will also be special musical response after the sermon by Tega Faka.

Youth Big House Vespers This Friday Night Yes, the BIG HOUSE is back! Please join us for our big house vespers tomorrow, Friday night, September 15th, at 7:00 p.m. at The Place. It will feature all the good stuff...a great band, inspiring speaker, awesome worship, and pizza for dinner! So, come on out and enjoy life in the Spirit together.
And, for those who like to get outside: we are continuing the fun on sundays with soccer at 10:00 a.m. and basketball at the NPAA gym every Sunday night from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm.
Fellowship Luncheon This Sabbath We will be having our regular monthly luncheon this Sabbath. We invite you to come and share together following services. The young families small group will host and the theme is ethnic food (anything but American, if you can figure out what American food is.) We invite you to bring some food to share if possible, but, please plan on staying for lunch together. We look forward to seeing you there!
Mommies Ministry - Hike this Sabbath Afternoon If you are a mommy and would like to come out and spend an afternoon with friends and nature, then plan on joining the fun this Sabbath and bring the whole family! Mommies, daddies, and children are all invited to go on a hike this Sabbath following our fellowship luncheon. We will be going to Wildwood park and hiking to the waterfall. Please plan on meeting in the parking lot at 3:30 p.m. for a mild two mile hike. From the 101 go north on Lynn Road and left (west) on Avenida de los Arboles and park in the lot closest to the school.

A new discipleship training class will begin this Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. and next Sabbath at 9:45 a.m. at The Place (it is the SAME class, so just choose the time that suits you) and will be held on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings. This will be a 10 week small group led by Pastor Simon that will focus on spiritual maturity that leads us into the adventure of ministry. Please sign up at church or with Pastor Simon.
Upcoming Events We have another family volleyball game night planned for Saturday evening, September 23d. We will meet and play at the NPAA gym starting at 7:30 p.m.
We will have our last beach vespers of the summer on Friday evening, September 29th at our usual spot in Sycamore Cove. Please join us at 6:30 p.m.

Women's Shelter Project The Interface Women's Shelter thanks all of you who worked so hard to clean up the house in Oxnard a few weeks ago. The team had a great time cleaning up the yard, making repairs and preparing the walls to be painted. But, now is the time to mark your calendars for Sunday, Sept. 24th at 9:00 a.m. for the painting and planting. If you believe in this project, but can't help with the physical labor, you can make a tax-deductible donation to Interface Children's Family, 1305 Del Norte Road, #130, Camarillo CA 93010-8366. Youth Big House Vespers NEXT Friday Night (but not beach vespers) Yes, the BIG HOUSE is back! It will be next Friday night, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. at The Place. Sadly, due to too many scheduling conflicts, there will not be Beach Vespers this Friday night. But, for those who like to play basketball...remember the NPAA gym is open every Sunday night from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm.
Baptisms & Fellowship Luncheon-This Sabbath and our regular Fellowship Luncheon next Sabbath This Sabbath will be a special one as we celebrate the baptisms of Danny Fulgham and Kathrine Managat. We are so excited for both of them and their families as they declare publicly their faith in Jesus Christ and join us as members of The Place. Please join us as we celebrate this special time with them. The baptisms and a special fellowship luncheon will be at the Fulgham's home in Simi Valley following church. The Fulgham's are located at 359 Golden Moss Court, Simi Valley (in Wood Ranch) 805-584-9193. We invite ALL of you to come and bring some food to share if possible. Directions will be available at The Place.
And, just a reminder that we have our regularly scheduled Fellowship Luncheon after church next Sabbath, September 16th. We invite you to come and share together following services. Children's Church & Monthly Food Drive-This Sabbath Every Second Sabbath is a special day for the children at The Place. And, we are even more excited this month as this Sabbath our children will be starting a whole new curriculum along with a new name...The FIREPLACE! So, kids, plan on coming to the Fireplace and check out all the new stuff. Class will meet at 11:30 in the Fellowship Hall.
And, every second Sabbath we also have our Food Drive at The Place. We invite you to set aside any canned goods and non-perishable items and bring them along. These goods go to Food Share, Ventura County's only regional food bank. Food Share is also having a Faith for FOOD Share Weekend, Friday, September 15 to Sunday, September 17. During the three-day campaign, houses of worship and spiritually based groups of all faiths will forward offerings to FOOD Shares direct hunger services. The dual purpose of Faith for FOOD Share is to raise funds for food, equipment, and food bank operations, while informing those in need about food availability in their communities.

Church Picnic This Sunday & Michael W. Smith Concert Information THIS coming Sunday, September 10, we will have our annual church picnic at Conejo Community Park from 12-4 p.m. There will be food, games, ball playing and lots of fun for kids of all ages. Don't miss out on this awesome event and time together. The kids will love the big jumper and games, and the adults will love it all! The park is located at 1175 Hendrix Ave., Thousand Oaks. (From the 101, go north on Moorpark, left on Gainsborough and left on Dover to the park.) Directions will be available at The Place.
