The Scoop - November 24th, Happy Thanksgiving!

This Week At The Place
We look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath. This week
Pastor Simon will be preaching at The Place. This week's sermon is
titled "The Thanksgiving Disciple." It will focus on prayer and
thanksgiving. We will also be celebrating the baptisms of Zoey
Reinach and Victoria Olsen. Chad Reisser will be leading us in our
praise time.

We invite you to Sabbath School this week. Our Sabbath School
classes meet at 10:30 a.m. Rob Randall will be leading the general
adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans.

We also have the "Little Place" with Sabbath School classes for
infants and toddlers, kindergarten aged children, earliteen classes,
and youth sabbath school. Stop by and be blessed!

You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The
Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. Come
and pray for our church or bring your special needs.

And, we invite your continued support of The Place. You may return

Fellowship Luncheon and Baptisms-This Sabbath
This coming Sabbath, November 25th, will be a very special one as
Zoey Reinach and Victoria Olsen have made a decision to be baptized.
We invite you to celebrate with them as they make their commitment
to Christ.

We will be having the baptisms and a fellowship luncheon following
church. Bryan and Mindy Schwarz will be hosting the luncheon at
their home in Simi Valley. The Schwarz family live at 3578 Claridge
Court, phone # 805-522-2148. Please bring food to share (even
leftovers are OK!) And, come out and celebrate with us as we welcome
Victoria and Zoey into our church family. Directions will be
available at The Place.


Bowling Night-This Saturday Night
Our social committee is planning another fun event for the month of
November. Please join us this Saturday night, November 25th as we
will be bowling the night away at Harley's Simi Bowl (480 Los
Angeles Ave in Simi Valley). The church will be paying for the
lanes; we just ask that you pay for your shoe rental. Please meet
at 7:45 p.m. If you are interested in going, please sign up in the
lobby this Sabbath or contact Jona Cooke at 408-219-6003. Hope to
see you there!


Thanksgiving Care Packages
The Place will be sending holiday care packages to James Baker, John
Alcala, Josue and Samuel Gomez. James is currently serving in Iraq.
John is serving in Afghanistan. Josue has just returned from Iraq.
Samuel is in training in the Midwest. Please bring one of the items
listed below this Sabbath. We will package the items and mail the
items to them. You are welcome to include a note to let them know
that we are thinking about them and we are praying for them.
Travel size Tylenol, Brown socks, Beef Jerky, Black socks, Snack
size cookies, Magazine's, Bicycle Playing cards, Chex mix,
Peanuts/Cashews, Packaged Soup, Prepaid phone card, Tuna, Gatorade
Protein Bars, Books, Magazines ( science, computer, business ..),
Sour Candy.

Thanks for your thoughfulness and generosity! Please bring your
gifts THIS Sabbath if possible.


Party For Primary/Earliteens

You're invited to come out to an earliteen (5th -8th graders)
holiday party...come have a fun night out with us!

There will be pizza, popcorn, ice-cream, chips, games, relays, a
cookie decorating contest, maybe a movie -- you get the idea!!
Please save the night of December 2, 2006 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
The party will be held at Bryan and Mindy Schwarz's home located at
3578 Claridge Court in Simi Valley, CA 93063. This is also a great
time to invite your friends who don't normally come to The Place.

The Place Progressive Christmas Dinner Party
It's that time of the year once again! We will be celebrating the
Christmas holiday as a church famiily on Saturday night, December
9th. This will follow our progressive church outline with
appetizers/salads, entree, and dessert and ornament exchange each at
a different member's home. Please sign up to help with food items
this Sabbath. We appreciate your help and look forward to
celebrating this joyous time of the year with you!


Mommies Ministry
As the month of November is coming to a close, we hope that all
mommies will save next Thursday on your calendar. Please join us
for "Girl's Night Out" this coming Thursday, November 30th. We will
meet at the Westlake Promenade at 6:30 p.m. in front of Champagne
Bakery for a quick meal followed by a movie. This will be a fun
night out!!!

And, don't forget...the mommies ministry will be having a Christmas
party and gift exchange in December. If you would like to be part
of this exchange, please contact Cecilia at cecilialiversidge@hotmail.com
to fill out an information card. Our party will take place at
Denise Ramirez's home starting at 4 p.m. Hope you can all make it!


Thanksgiving Wishes

We hoep that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and
that you are continuing to celebrate throughout the weekend. We
have so much to be thankful for in Christ. We love and are so
thankful for our church family and continue to pray for you. If you

The Scoop at The Place - November 16th, 2006

This Week At The Place

celebrate with us as we welcome Amie and Alyssa into our church
family. Directions will be available at The Place.

And- just so that you may plan ahead, we will have another very
special luncheon and baptisms the following Sabbath, November 25th
for Zoey Reinach and Victoria Olsen... this will also be hosted by
Bryan and Mindy Schwarz at their home located at 3578 Claridge Ct.
in Simi Valley. Plan on bringing your Thanksgiving extras!


Baby, Baby, & Baby Shower this Saturday night
The New Year will see our membership growing yet again
with new additions coming to: the Liversidge family, Shea family,
and Brandon Fausset family. The Liversidge's and Shea's are
expecting a baby girl and the Fausset's are expecting a baby boy.
Our church is planning a combined shower to prepare for these
blessed ones this coming Saturday night, November 18th at the
Pacific Union Conference Office inside the Fireside Room. The
festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. If you would like to help with
snacks please call Cindy Andregg@(805)376-1115. This should be a
really fun time. The Union Office is located at 2686 Townsgate Road
in Westlake Village (exit off the 101 on Westlake Blvd and go south;
turn right on Townsgate and the PUC office is immediately on your
left.)

All ladies are registered at babies r us and the Shea's and
Fausset's are also registered at potterybarnkids.com. Hope to see
you there!


Time for Bowling again!

Dan and Tami live at 936 Dunbar Lane, Thousand Oaks (right behind
the Oaks Mall.) 805-449-0076. We will worship, study and share
together. If you have questions, please contact Dan, Tami or Pastor
Simon.

For those who have been longing for something to do on Friday
nights...don't miss out!!!


Care Packages For Soldiers
The Place will be sending holiday care packages to James Baker, John

The Place Christmas Party - December 9th
Yes, it is almost that time of year! I can hear the Christmas Carols
playing in the mall and that means you should mark your calendars
for some fun. Our Place Christmas Party is going to be on Saturday
night, December 9th. It will again be a progressive Christmas Party.
So, please save that date, and starting next Sabbath, you can sign
up to bring food and goodies.

This Week At The Place
We look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath. This week
Fernando Rossi, the religion teacher at NPAA and a former pastor,
will be preaching at The Place. This week's sermon is titled "In
His Footsteps". Dean Palacio will be leading us in our praise time.

We invite you to Sabbath School this week. Our Sabbath School
classes meet at 10:30 a.m. Rob Randall will be leading the general
adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans.

We also have the "Little Place" with Sabbath School classes for
infants and toddlers, kindergarten aged children, earliteen classes,
and youth sabbath school. Stop by and be blessed!

You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The
Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. Come
and pray for our church or bring your special needs.

And-we appreciate your faithful giving. During the month of October,
we received $11,886 in tithe, bringing our yearly total to $139,066.
And, we received $10,578 towards our church budget. This gives us a
total of $97,421.65 for the year, about $7,500 behind church budget
so far. Thank you so much for your faithful support. You may return
your tithes and offerings at The Place or online by clicking on the
link provided.

Children's Church-This Sabbath
Our monthly children's church is scheduled for this coming Sabbath.
Please bring your little ones to the fellowship hall at 11:30 a.m.
for a special time of worship and learning about Christ through
music, story, craft, and snack. This month's leader is Jennifer
Lew.

Thanksgiving Food Drive-This Sabbath
We will be having our monthly food drive this Sabbath. Sadly, there
are many people in our community who can't afford to have a
Thanksgiving dinner. Several markets and restaurants will be
donating turkeys, but we can help with the other food items that
make Thanksgiving dinner special. Among the items needed are: boxes
of stuffing and rice, canned olives, corn, gravy, fruit and mixed
vegetables, and packages of rolls. There will be a box in the lobby
this Sabbath for your donations. We appreciate your generosity.

NPAA Musical Benefit-This Saturday Night
The Newbury Park Adventist Academy band will be having a benefit
this Saturday night, November 11th. The band will be playing music
from around the world with two performances at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
The PTO will serve hors d'oeuvres and there will also be several
booths open. You may purchase your tickets from any band member or
at the door. Come out and support your local academy!

Since the month of November is a busy one for many of us, we will
not have as many activities planned but the ones we have will be
extra special.

Tuesday, November 14th A Mommy and me outing to the Thousand Oaks
Library for story time at 10:30 followed by a trip to the park.
On Friday, November 17th we will be having our special mommy and me
Thanksgiving dinner hosted by Alisa Kalberg. Please bring your
little ones to celebrate Thanksgiving together. Our dinner will
start at 3 p.m. Please sign up to bring food with Alisa at
805-582-0304 or with Cecilia at 805-531-0494...this will be a
wonderful time!

The Scoop At The Place - November 2, 2006

This Week At The Place

and is the sixth in Pastor Simon's series on discipleship. We will
also be blessed by the CAES choir as they will be singing for us.

adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans.

Visitor Luncheon- This Sabbath
We will be having our monthly fellowship luncheon this coming
Sabbath. This luncheon is designed for visitors and new members to
better acquaint themselves with one another. Of course all members
are welcome. This week we will be meeting at The Fulgham's home in
Simi Valley. Frank and Doris are located at 359 Golden Moss Court,
phone number 805-584-9193. Please remember to bring food to share.

Jars Of Clay This Saturday Night
Jars of Clay will be in concert this coming Saturday night at
Pepperdine University in Malibu. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. and
is outdoor general admission only. There are still some tickets
available at $18 per person. If you are interested in going to this
concert, please sign up in the lobby this Sabbath or contact Pastor
Simon.
