Thanks for your support! Beach Vespers-This Friday Night & Softball Update
Our monthly beach vespers is scheduled for this coming Friday, June 29th. We meet at our usual spot in Sycamore Cove at 5:45 p.m. Come join us for food, worship, and a beautiful sunset. If you can bring some food to share, that will be appreciated. We will be welcoming Steve and Daisy Carlson into our fellowship! Directions to the vespers are 101 North; exit Las Posas all the way to Pacific Coast Hwy, and go south about 5 miles. The beach is on your right! The Placers softball team finished their spectacular regular season the way they began – with a win. Their latest victims: Robot Chicken, by a score of 14-9. The Placers’ strapping defense proved to be the difference maker. Robert Nomelli put an exclamation mark on his bid for being the league’s top pitcher by posting a perfect record of 6-0 with an ERA of 4.17 (outstanding in slow-pitch softball). Fred Harlan had two unassisted double plays and a diving catch at short. Aaron Ramirez made a number of great plays in center, as always. Likewise, Sandy Werner had another strong effort at 1st. But the real star of the game was Sheryl Nomelli who jumped from the stands into the line-up, saving the Placers from what appeared to be an eminent forfeit. The Placers will put their skills to the test this Sunday as they open the playoffs at 6:15, at Borchard Park. Great seats are still available. Church BBQ & Movie NightThe Vineyard Church has invited us to participate in their BBQ/Movie night scheduled for THIS Saturday evening, June 30th. The BBQ starts at 5 p.m. at The Place. The event is totally free. The Vineyard is generously inviting us to come and share this evening with them...so, let's do it! Financial Update for May and Pledges for our new pastor Once again we would like to thank you for your support of The Place and our ministry. During the month of May we received $10,554 in tithe, giving us a total of $64,995 for 2007 so far. All of the tithe goes to our local Southern California Conference. We also received $6,680 towards our church budget in May...giving us a total of $45,926 for 2007. This leaves us only a few thousand dollars behind our church budget for 2007 so far.
But, to keep this in perspective, we have just hired our new Associate Pastor, Steve Carlson, who will be starting here on July 1st. In order to pay for his salary, we will have to come up with about $5,500 a month as part of our church budget (this is BEYOND what we budget now!) This will raise our monthly church budget about 50%. NONE of this amount is coming from tithe or from our local conference. It is ALL coming from our local giving here at The Place - money that is given towards CHURCH BUDGET. By faith, we absolutely believe that God will bless us greatly. But, we ask for your faith and your financial commitment as well in this process. This Sabbath we will have financial pledge cards at The Place. We are asking, if you are willing, that you commit whatever amount God puts on your heart to contribute monthly towards our new pastor. Even if the amount is small...we would love to have your regular commitment to help us in this way. We invite you to pray over this decision.
You may return your tithes and offerings by clicking on the link or at The Place. Thanks so much for your faithfulness.
