The Scoop at The Place - July 26, 2007
This Week At The PlaceWe look forward to seeing you at The Place this Sabbath. This Sabbath Pastor Simon will continue his series over the book of John. This week's sermon is titled "One Love" which goes over chapter 17, verses 20-26 and focuses on unity. There will also be a special song by Meg Quilop and drama by Walter Hamlin. Chad Reisser will be leading praise and worship.
We invite you to Sabbath School this week. We have children's Sabbath Schools for all ages, including our cradle roll, kindergarten, primary, junior/earliteen, and youth Sabbath school classes that meet at 10:30 a.m.
Pastor Simon will be leading this week's general adult Sabbath school which is studying the book of Romans. Stop by and be blessed!
You are also invited to attend our community prayer time at The Place every Sabbath before Sabbath School starting at 9:45 a.m. If you would like to pray for our church or be prayed for, we invite you to come and share in this powerful time together.

Beach Vespers & Baptism This Friday Night
This month we are having a special beach vespers with a baptism. Please join us tomorrow evening, July 27th at Sycamore Cove at 6:00 p.m. for dinner, worship, and the baptism of Kim Vertelka. This will be a blessed time together. If you can bring some food to share, we invite you to do so as well. Come and help us welcome Kim into our fellowship!
Collegiate & Young Adult Lunch This Sabbath
Are you ready to grow in Jesus and to grow together? We are planning a get together for young adults and collegiates at Macaroni Grill in the Westlake Promenade after church THIS Sabbath, July 28th, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. This is an opportunity for us all to get to know each other and to talk and share about our ideas and to plan for some future activities together. Community Service Ideas/Adventure Groups - Scrapbooking
Do you have ideas or would you like to be part of planning community service events? There will be an organizational meeting this Sabbath at 9:30 a.m. in the Sabbath School wing. New people are invited! Please come and share your ideas.
And, our adventure groups continue! Come out and join the fun and invite a friend! This Wednesday night (August 1st) the Scrapbooking group is meeting at 6:30 p.m. at The Place. New members are invited to come out and scrap book together! Call Kathy Roth if you have any questions or for more details...805-304-1509. Missionaries Leave Next Tuesday
The mission trip volunteers will be leaving this coming Tuesday night to Ecuador. Pastor Simon is taking a group of 39 people to build a church. They will return on August 12th. Thanks for your emotional and financial support! We invite you to please pray for our time there and that God would pour out His Holy Spirit on us.
Baby Shower for Alicia Adams/Beach Day
There will be a baby shower for Alicia Adams on Sunday morning, August 5th. All ladies are invited to come and pamper Alicia with love and gifts for her baby boy. The shower will take place at Jennifer Lew's home in Newbury Park at 10:30 a.m. If you are interested in signing up to bring food or to help in any way, please contact Jennifer Lew at 805-498-0905. Alicia is registered at babies r us.
And, the next Sunday, August 12th, we will have a BEACH DAY at Zuma Beach for all of you who love to enjoy a beautiful Sunday afternoon of sun, fun, volleyball and fellowship. Jona will have more details next week, but mark it down in your calendars.
Youth & Collegiate Stuff
Youth Stuff:
The youth are planning a camping trip in August. Please mark your calendars for the weekend of the 17th through the 19th and stay tuned for more details!
Also, don't forget that every Monday night the NPAA gym is open for youth from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Please come join the fun. And, every Wednesday night there is a youth small group bible study in the NPAA bible room from 7-8:30 p.m.
Collegiate/Young Adult Stuff:
The NPAA gym is open for basketball on Sunday nights from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
Also, every Thursday, there is an outing to go Wakeboarding. We leave from the NPAA parking lot at 5 a.m. and return at 11 a.m. If you are interested, you must reserve your spot by contacting Zac Crook at 805-551-9943.
