Because we will be camping there will be NO CHURCH service at The Place this Sabbath. Saturday afternoon vespers – 6:00 p.m. Sunday morning we will move out after breakfast so you can enjoy Mother’s Day together as a family! Steve Carlson will be leading out on our Friday night worship. Steve Jackson will be with us on Sabbath and be leading the praise time. Pastor Simon will be leading out on all the Sabbath meetings.

Each family will be responsible for their own food, except for Sabbath Lunch. For Sabbath Lunch we will be having haystacks together. Mary James (805-581-4476) is organizing the lunch. If you can bring something to help, that would be great. We will also be bringing hot dogs to roast for Saturday evening. If you are interested in bringing something along to share to go along with that, we would appreciate it!

Directions to the campground: Take 101 FWY North 40 miles from Newbury Park. Take exit 86 – Casitas Pass Road…turn left. Turn right at Carpinteria Ave; turn left at Palm Avenue – go to the end of Palm Avenue at the beach. TAKING’ IT TO THE STREETS community serve weekend May 31 and June 1. We would like to have EVERYONE involved the service projects we have scheduled. It will be fun and rewarding as we work together in sharing God’s love through service to others. Choose Sabbath, Sunday or both days to volunteer and SIGN UP TODAY! There are sign up sheets on the back table. For questions or more information, contact Joyce Thomsen at 805 377-8892 / october5@aol.com.

FOOD DRIVE. One of our projects for ACTION Day is to support our food banks in Ventura County. The items that we collect are distributed to thousands of children, seniors and families in our community. There will be a box by the main door this Sabbath and each Sabbath during the month of May for your contributions. There are a few items that are of special need: peanut butter, tuna fish, cereal and sugar-free cereal. Thank you for your continued support for our community.

Church Camping Trip - Sign up this Sabbath
You are invited to the first annual Camping Trip to Carpinteria State Beach NEXT weekend, May 9-11th, located at 5361 6th St. Carpinteria, CA. 805-684-2811. Our theme for the weekend is Genesis 49...and focuses on how much God knows and loves us. We have three group camp sites and we invite everyone to come! This is a WHOLE church camping trip. We will not be having Sabbath School or Church at The Place that Sabbath, but will be having Sabbath School and Church at the camp site on the beach! You may sign up this Sabbath or with Pastor Simon!! More than 75 people have already signed up to camp for the weekend...but we would love everyone to camp with us (not just drive up on Sabbath!)

We are camping Friday and Saturday nights. Our meeting times will be: Friday at 7:30 p.m.; Sabbath School – 10:30 a.m.; Church Service – 11:30 a.m. (S.S. and church will be in the amphitheater.) Saturday afternoon vespers – 6:00 p.m.

This Sabbath we will have a poster with all the camping sites and invite you to sign up for your site!! But, even if you don't camp...please drive up on Sabbath!

Directions to the campground: Take 101 FWY North 40 miles from Newbury Park. Take exit 86 – Casitas Pass Road…turn left. Turn right at Carpinteria Ave; turn left at Palm Avenue – go to the end of Palm Avenue at the beach. Parking is $8 (unless you are camping...in which case there are a limited # of spaces available as part of the reservation.)

Family Fun
You are invited to Family fun this Sabbath...a way of spending fun, quality time with your children, grandchildren or borrowed children.

We are going to have our first Family Fun time after church THIS SABBATH May 3. Bring a picnic lunch and join the other families at Bendix Park...use the entrance off Gainsborough Road next to the T.O. SDA church. There will be directions at The Place. After lunch we will be geocaching and if you've never heard of this you are in or a treat! Bring your walking shoes and get ready to find some treasure!

Children: bring a pouch of some sort with little trinket like
items in it that you don't mind trading. Examples would be: marbles, tiny action figure, plastic braclets, plastic figures. Anything very small that you already have around the house.

We are planning on having a Family Fun event every month. Spread the word and join us. You may contact Robin Atmore with any questions.

Mission Trip to Chile - Upcoming Fundraising
We are planning our annual mission trip for this August and there is still ROOM for you! This year we are building a church outside the town of San Felipe, about 50 miles north of Santiago in Chile, from August 6-18. We have made plane reservations…and need to give a $100 deposit for each seat. Due to higher airline costs the total cost for the trip is around $1600. But, we are going to be fundraising as a church to help cover those costs. We need a few more people to come and help us accomplish our project. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Pastor Simon.

Donna Goldman has volunteered to hold a garage sale at her home and donate the proceeds to the trip. If you have any items that you would like to donate, please bring them to church any Sabbath in May or contact Donna directly at (805) 407-9535. Donna has also offered to pick up the items from your home (thanks, Donna!) in order to make it easier for you. We need to raise as much money as possible, so anything you could donate would be greatly appreciated!
We are also going to be doing a lunch fundraiser on Sunday, June 29th at Outback Steakhouse in Oxnard. Stay tuned for details.
